Although we've not heard anything about it for a while, Romania-based AMC Creation is still hard at work on No Name War--a real-time strategy game scheduled for release in the second quarter of this year.

No Name War will allow players to assume control of one of three different warring humanoid factions, each with its own single-player campaign spanning some 18 scenarios. Each of the races will feature its own unique units and behavioral patterns and, according to AMC, be capable of learning from a player's actions. Enemies in No Name War will also depend on what AMC calls "real AI," meaning that the AI won't have access to any information that isn't available to the player.

There will be a total of more than 80 different land, air, and sea unit types in the game, and they will improve their skills as the game progresses and they gain experience--similar to how units gain experience in most role-playing games. The game will also feature more than 100 different weapons, many of which boast alternate firing modes.

The custom-designed and randomly generated maps in the game can reach sizes of around 40 screens by 40 screens and will feature changing weather patterns that can include mist, rainfall, and snow. It's not yet clear how the changing climate might affect gameplay or whether a unit's range of vision will be affected by the transition of day to night.

No Name War will feature multiplayer support for up to eight players (as opposed to the 16 that was originally announced) and is without a publisher at this time. For more information, check out our previous coverage of the game.
