No Mass Effect news until 2014

General manager for Edmonton and Montreal studios says, "More info sometime in 2014 I hope. That's the most specific I can be."

by

Fans hoping for a year-end Mass Effect holiday treat from BioWare are out of luck, as the developer has confirmed that it won't share any more details on the next Mass Effect game until 2014.

"More info sometime in 2014 I hope. That's the most specific I can be," BioWare Edmonton and Montreal general manager Aaryn Flynn said on Twitter recently.

BioWare showed the first images of the next Mass Effect game (which will not feature Commander Shepard) last month as part of its celebration of N7 Day. The untitled game will run on the Frostbite 3 engine and, according to executive producer Casey Hudson, will be "fresh and new."

In addition to the new Mass Effect game, BioWare is working with Legendary Pictures on a Mass Effect feature film, though no release date or casting details have been divulged.

BioWare is also working on a brand-new franchise, which will deliver "something new, the way we did at the very beginning of Mass Effect," Hudson said in March.

If it's anything like the previous two games than I shall not bother.

Good. I'm prepared to wait. I want the end product to be awesome, so they can take their time. :)

I dont mind if they take their time as long as the end product is good.

Yeah, I sort of thought there would or wouldn't be news regarding the new Mass Effect this year, next year or any year. If it happens, it happens. Nothing to see here.

Now that DICE got their hands in ME4, the game will be powered by Frosbite 3 engine, I just hope it won't turn into a 3rd person Battelfield

Well, BioWare, just for that, I won't try to preorder it until some time in 2014 I hope.

I personally am all for more Mass Effect related games but I really would prefer Jade Empire 2 from Bioware before anything else (after the release of Inquisition of course).

I'm so proud of you guys. Only a couple of people made some stupid ME3 ending jokes. That's an improvement! Before, everyone was making those jokes.

The Mass Effect trilogy are the only games that have forced tears from my stone heart. I may not have liked the ending of ME3 but I can't wait to immerse myself into the Mass Effect universe again.

Eddie Makuch's motto is "quantity over quality". He must publish more articles every day than anyone else on the internet. Yet more than half of them are worthless. 2014 is less than a month away. This article tells us next to nothing.

Yay. ME4, now with 4 different coloured yet identical explosions at the end of a story that cares fuck all about each & every decision you made during the game. And seriously, what kind of fucking moron would believe anything that comes out of Casey Hudson's mouth ever again?

What is it with GameSpot over-emphasizing the Shepard won't be in Mass Effect 4?

Mass Effect 4? They still don't have a Mass Effect 3 ending yet!!!

That pic is still a grossly obvious rip off of The Walking Dead season covers, which look shitty in the first place.

@revenanceslc how come so many people don't like the ending of ME3? because Shepard died ? face it, the hero can't live forever, a heroic death is what any soldier would want

@revenanceslc Have you watched the ending of MGS4? That is well performed and in some way, very touching imo.

@pyro1245 LMAO that was my first exact thought.  "Not until 2014".  Sooo......give it three weeks or so and then we will be right back at square one?  -_-

@djsimpson95 @revenanceslc The problem was that Bioware sold a lot of people on the idea of Mass Effect being their story just as much as theres.  So a lot of people went in with the expectation that if they wanted a true Shepard lives Star Wars like ending the option would be available.  After all in Mass Effect 2 you can make it so everyone lives or even go so far as to have everyone die based on your choices.  Basically people got use to the idea of being able to shape the story they wanted to have and when the ending controversy came around suddenly it became Bioware's 'artistic vision.'  If it had been a more linear game with few if any choices then the sacrifice ending wouldn't have been nearly as big a deal.

Not to mention the final confrontation with the Reapers and the catalyst was a huge let down.  I mean if we're going to have a sacrifice ending no matter what then at least let the players go down in a blaze of glory.  Please keep in mind that this post is coming from a person who's favorite ending of all time is Final Fantasy X.

@DirkXXVI @djsimpson95 @revenanceslc i loved the ending of mass effect 3 and im not complaining

but if they just gave us a battle i mean all the universe is with me and i cannot fight alongside them i mean if the catalyst failed i would not give up.

@VakarianGirl @Auriken it's actually more terrible because it's longer, so you have to endure the same crap for a longer period of time...just saying.

VakarianGirl
VakarianGirl

@Auriken and makes absolutely NO difference whatsoever.  All it did was prove they swept the cutting room floor.  The end result is the same - a terrible ending.
