No, EA Isn't Teasing a New NCAA Football Game With This Video

The official EA Sports NCAA Football Facebook page was updated today for the first time since July 2014. A three-second video on the page shows an EKG scan, along with a caption that could be interpreted as having something to do with the resurrection of the dormant college football series. However, this is not a tease for a new NCAA Football game, but instead only a hype post about tonight's College Football Playoff championship game, a representative for EA Sports told GameSpot today.

The video's caption reads: "Our heart still beats for the big game... #NationalChampionship."

Given that tonight's matchup between Clemson and Alabama is generating lots of buzz around the college football game, it wouldn't have been to wild to think EA might capitalize on the hype with an announcement of its own. However, that's not going to be the case.

"We have no new plans or announcements to make regarding the EA Sports NCAA Football series," an EA Sports representative said. "Today's National Championship game reminds us more than ever that the hearts in our community still beat for college football."

The last NCAA Football game from EA was 2013's NCAA Football 14. Plans were in place for NCAA Football 15 in 2014, but the game was canceled as a result of a legal battle between the NCAA and student-athletes that resulted in a $60 million settlement package for the players.

Looking ahead, the future of the NCAA Football series is uncertain. The NCAA ended its relationship with EA Sports for college football games in July 2013, but that doesn't necessarily mean EA will never make another college football game. EA signed a new, three-year agreement with the Collegiate Licensing Company later in July 2013, though we haven't heard anything about new games since.
