Nintendo working on an alien-themed game?

Mario maker files trademark application for "Code name: S.T.E.A.M. Strike Team Eliminating The Alien Menace."

by

Nintendo is up to something. On April 2 the Mario maker filed a new trademark application for a game called "Code name: S.T.E.A.M. Strike Team Eliminating The Alien Menace."

The filing (via Gematsu) is listed as a video game, but that's all we know about it. Presumably, it will involve laying waste to some enemy alien faction in some manner.

The trademark application, filed with the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO), lists Nintendo of America as its owner. We have reached out to the company for comment.

PAX East will be held this week in Boston, Mass., but Nintendo is not attending. Tomorrow, Nintendo will hold a special Super Smash Bros.-themed Nintendo Direct at 6 p.m. EDT.

For some reason the name made me think of some Metriod meets XCOM.

Be sure not to include blood or gore for your pre-teen fan base, Nintendo.

...then they get sued by Valve.

This doesn't sound like Nintendo at all.

They probably can't do anything to stop it and even if they try, Nintendo is large enough to do legal battle without giving in to the "do as we say or we'll force you to suffer through an expensive trial"-threats. Man, I hate it when companies try that *completely legitimate* way of blackmailing.  http://qr.net/stx3

S.T.E.A.M. and fighting an alien menace makes me think of a squad-based Half-Life game. I wonder what Valve thinks about that trademark application? I once heard about people suing the company L.O.G.G. (Label of Graded Goods) for using their family name Logg without permission, but luckily they didn't win.

If the game ends up good the title doesn't really matter. It's just a code name thus far.

I bet it's related to Wonderful 101, which is not bad at all. ;)

Valve. sue them for the code name.

An X-Com type game?  That would get my attention.

That is the stupidest name I heard in quite a while, did a 6yr old come up with that (nothing against children but retarded would have been worse)?

Will we be able to play as Gabe Newell? We could make his special ability 'Valve Time'. It's like bullet time but 3 times slower.

@PewbertYa because call of duty ghosts, black ops, splinter cell blacklist, resident evil revelations, etc don't have any blood.  You must play a ms console...lol

@DrKill09  S.T.E.A.M. is used as an acronym, Valve can't even touch them

@Butt_Chunx Your comment is about 10 years old. Backwards thinking and Ninty could careless if you do not buy a Wii.

@Kyrylo  Better than the full name of all the xbox consoles.

@DrKill09 ya they cant touch em , its not infringing,   other wise the guys who made full throttle on the snes can sue for that full throttle game that was made not even in relation   ,, and kemco would also be able to sue the makers of the tv show top gear if that were the case

@noandno Makes you wonder if the coding of his games is completely free of the number '3'.

@noandno @bunchanumbers @gamerno66666  I'm dumb, but i think it's stupid to claim someone stole your likeness... like people have said i look like someone they know i'm not going to attempt to sue them for that.. it's just as stupid.
