If there's anything that could rival the success of Nintendo in recent years, it's the dramatic rise of rhythm-based gaming. It seems natural, then, that a combination of the two would yield a guaranteed hit, no questions asked. However, that does not appear to be the case with Wii Music, given that Nintendo left many scratching their heads over the game after the publisher's underwhelming E3 Media & Business press conference.

Nevertheless, Wii Music is scheduled to arrive for Nintendo's popular console in North America on October 20. The publisher has yet to reveal the game's full setlist, which will include around 50 standards and licensed songs that can be played on 60 or so instruments. However, Nintendo's Japanese Web site did tease today with a few more tunes that gamers can expect to find in the game next week.

From the standards category, Nintendo has added Henry Clay Work's 1876 ballad "My Grandfather's Clock," Mozart's 1787 serenade "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik," and Ludwig van Beethoven's "Ode to Joy." Nintendo has also included a few of its own staples, saying in its recent post that the previously revealed "Super Mario Bros Theme" will be joined by themes from The Legend of Zelda and Animal Crossing.

Designed to be as inclusive as possible, Wii Music eschews the current trend of requiring players to input correct button combinations for higher scores. Instead, as noted by game designer Kazumi Totaka in a recent Iwata Asks interview, players can score themselves on how well they think they performed.
