The Game Boy Advance has done incredibly well for the company, selling 4.7 million units. According to Nintendo, software sales in 2001 were also solid, with Super Smash Bros. selling 643,996 units, followed by Luigi's Mansion, Star Wars, Pikmin, and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3. Unsurprisingly, Pokémon Crystal led the way in handheld sales with 1,400,422. Super Mario Advance trailed behind with 1,227,442 units sold, followed by Pokémon Silver, Pokémon Gold, and Mario Kart Super Circuit.

Nintendo also reaffirmed that Zelda and Metroid titles would be debuting in 2002.
