Ninja Gaiden, Ninja Turtles II headed to Wii

Entertainment Software Rating Board passes judgment on a pair of presumably downloadable titles.

Nintendo's Virtual Console downloadable game service for the Wii is awash in offerings from the 1980s, and in those days, there were few elements of pop culture as pervasive and ubiquitous as the ninja. The Entertainment Software Rating Board is providing a reminder of that with the recently released ratings for a pair of previously unannounced (and presumably downloadable) Wii games, Tecmo's Ninja Gaiden and Konami's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game.

Released in 1989, Ninja Gaiden on the Nintendo Entertainment System brought a cinematic flair to its new take on Tecmo's arcade hit with cutscenes that helped move the story along in between stages. The same year saw the release of the TMNT arcade game, which was later ported to the NES as a follow-up to Konami's original turtle-toting effort for the console. Ninja Gaiden is rated E for Everyone, while TMNT II: The Arcade Game received an E10+ for Everyone 10 and Older.

In another fit of nostalgia-inducting retro gaming revelations, the ESRB site also recently revealed its ratings for two arcade classics for the Xbox 360, Tron and Discs of Tron. Both games were rated E for Everyone and were submitted for rating by Buena Vista Games (now Disney Interactive Software).
