Ninja Gaiden dev's action game Devil's Third gets a new logo, 2014 reveal teased

Tomonobu Itagaki reveals new logo for action game and says we'll finally know more about it later this year.

Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive veteran designer Tomonobu Itagaki's upcoming action game Devil's Third is poised for a comeback. The developer today shared a new logo for the game on his Facebook page and said the game will finally be officially (re)-revealed later this year.

Itagaki left Team Ninja in 2008 and later established Valhalla Game Studios with other veterans of the Ninja Gaiden developer. The studio announced Devil's Third in 2010 at which time THQ was expected to publish the game.

After THQ went bankrupt in 2012, the game's fate was left in the balance. However, Itagaki reclaimed the Devil's Third rights from THQ and said late last year that the game was 80 percent complete and on schedule for a release in 2014. The game was at one point scheduled for release on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, though it's unclear if the game has shifted to new consoles like the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, or Wii U.

Valhalla Game Studios has major plans for the game, as it expects to expand the Devil's Third property into other forms of media, including manga, novels, animation, and film, in an effort to spin the fiction into a "blockbuster franchise."

It remains to be seen how Devil's Third will come to market. For more on Devil's Third, which Itagaki believes will "surprise" people, check out GameSpot's previous coverage.

About damn time we see some light on this game.

I can't wait to see this game in action! The first Ninja Gaiden on the OG Xbox is one of my favorite games of all time. The Ninja Gaiden franchise has really tanked since Itagaki left. If Microsoft or Sony were smart, they'd try to pick this up as an exclusive now, before it goes multiplat.

Team ninja is still awesome and DOA 5 Ultimate is proof of that....The only problem is Ninja Gaiden, It sucks since NG3.

I'm predicting that the game will be published by Sega. Itagaki hasn't blasted them as much as other companies. Well, Microsoft maybe is the other one.

Itagaki is a genius douchebag, I love to play his action games but I wouln't want to be his friend. Not that he'll ask me mind you, but still.

Ninja Gaiden Black/Sigma is the greatest action game ever made. The second was almost as good.

I expect this game to be a controller breaker from frustration lol!

You can def tell he had a major influence on NG because its been pretty much down hill since his departure so hopefully he brings some of that lost magic back here and of course knowing him there will also be chicks with massive DDD boobs flopping all around too.

I'm very glad this game is not dead, but.... the history knows too few examples of good games that have returned from the development hell.

I have faith in this, this year needs a good hack n'slash game. This game never left my wishlist, I don't care in wich platform is released if I can get around to play it.

He talk a lot of garbage and is an ass but, there's no denying that the man knows how to make a solid game more often than not. Team Ninja became a joke that could't come close to their past games soon after he left.

Oh c'mon, later this year? I've been waiting so long >_>

Could this be the game Microsoft was talking about on X1...?

Valhalla basically is the new Team Ninja. Can't wait to play Devil's Third.

Itagaki is a genius. He directed what is, in my opinion as well as the opinion of many others, the best action game of all-time in Ninja Gaiden Black. Can't wait for this.

A logo?  Yes!  That proves that this game is definitely coming soon.  Maybe.  Hopefully.  Please?

For those of you who don't know Tomonobu Itagaki is the original creator of the Ninja Gaidem series. He left Team Ninja after ninja gaiden 2 and due to that the rest of the studios without his guidance left us with epic failure that is ninja gaiden 3.

So I', glad he's coming out with his game......

Remember when "Team Ninja" actually meant a really good quality game?

Oh look. Another Ninja themed game from a ninja dev.
Not to sound like an ass but they might aswell call it Ninja Gaiden.

@Vodoo  Ninja Gaiden has only had one real incarnation since he left...minus the sigma crap PS got. Granted NG3 was a far cry from Balck or NG2, but I think they can turn it around again if they try.

@xbr85 yea he comes across as a pervey womanizer. he is a teenager that never grew up and it shows in the types of games he has worked on. i believe he was involved in a harassment case with one of his female employees a few years back as well. he does have the good ninja gaiden games under his belt though so that redeems him a bit :D

And downhill is an understatement. Ninja Gaiden has sucked the whole times since Itagaki left.

@Ripper_TV  That wont happen here with Itagaki, I feel he wouldnt release it if it was not good quality

@mikebell1983  Razor's Edge is great though. Actually liked it more than 2. But 1/black/sigma is still the best.

So by that logic titanfall should just be called cod: mech edition since the people making it made cod. Did you even remember the trailer for this game? And with a four year gap a lot more has been added. So this is more than just a game of reused assets, from the former head of team ninja.

@ERRMAHGERD don't really care what they call but once its him am happy ! cause team ninja r only bringing out crap just hope he puts a decent story into it

xbr85

@Xristophoros @xbr85Yes I remember that case, he also used to trash talk his competitors fighting games quite vocally. I also remember him giving a funny reply when someone informed him that Bayonettas suit was in fact her hair. His reply was. of course, condescending.

But he's definitely not all talk and, as you pointed out, was behind the great NG games. Everyone can make mistakes though so we'll just have to see what comes out of this.

@porcupeth123 Well duh! Ninja Gaiden 3 sucked! So Tecmo took a look at the last great Ninja Gaiden game ( Ninja Gaiden 2! ) and said: Yea! we gotta mix this in the next version of Ninja Gaiden 3! I'm won't be buying Ninja Gaiden 4! BECAUSE THE NEXT VERSION OF IT WILL BE BETTER!!!

juboner

@santinegrete @juboner @porcupeth123 @mikebell1983  NG1 and 2 clicked with the first enemy I killed in both of them, it just feels satisfying. The first time I played razors edge I had high hopes but it still did not feel right, though way better than their first attempt.

santinegrete
santinegrete

@juboner @santinegrete@porcupeth123@mikebell1983 the game has something that doesn't click with me just like previous games. I have no desire to pick it up and finish it, nor to sell it, but if you ask me: a game that ends like that in my library just failed to hook me or impress me.
