NHL Hitz 2002 ships for the Xbox

Midway has announced that it has shipped NHL Hitz 2002 for the Microsoft Xbox. The game will be available at retailers ahead of the launch of the Xbox console, which will take place on November 15. Developed by Black Box Games, NHL Hitz 2002 brings the offbeat arcade-style gameplay of Midway's NFL Blitz series to the ice.

"We are honored to have the only hockey video game available for the Xbox video game system at launch,'' said Helene Sheeler, vice president of marketing at Midway. "NHL Hitz 2002 has changed the hockey video game category, with its delivery of the most intense and exciting aspects of hockey every time you play.''

NHL Hitz 2002 shipped for the PlayStation 2 on September 25 and is scheduled to ship on November 13 for the Nintendo GameCube. New Jersey Devils defenseman Scott Stevens will serve as the game's official cover athlete.
