NHL 17 Producer on the Possibility of the Series Coming Back to PC

NHL hasn't appeared on PC in seven years, but the hockey series could return if enough fans want it. NHL 17 producer Sean Ramjagsingh told GameSpot that developer EA Canada considers a PC version every year.

"For us, it's continuing on a year-by-year basis to assess the opportunities," Ramjagsingh said. "If we were to make a PC version, how many people would be playing it on PC? How much would it cost to make a PC version? It's something that we look at every single year."

The last game in the series to get a PC version was NHL 09--it was also the last entry to appear on the PS2. Since then, EA's NHL franchise has been exclusive to console, and the studio doesn't currently have PC support in its plans.

"It's something we continue to look at because it's our goal to reach as many hockey fans as possible and if that means PC is a viable option, it's something we'll definitely look at," Ramjagsingh said.

NHL 17 releases for PS4 and Xbox One on September 13. It features a new Franchise mode, improved goalies, and much more customization. It's also the first time players can compete in the World Cup of Hockey.

EA Canada vice president Matt Bilbey and EA Tiburon vice president Cam Weber talked about what it would take to get EA Sports titles back on PC last month. Bilbey said it's "literally based on demand."
