Midway Sports announces the North American release of its latest football game for the PlayStation 2.

Midway Sports announced that the PS2 version of NFL Blitz Pro has shipped to stores across North America. Officially licensed by the NFL and Players INC, the game offers a more realistic representation of football than its predecessors but doesn't sacrifice the arcade-style gameplay that the series is known for.

"NFL Blitz Pro maintains the hard-hitting action that made the franchise a huge success while adding the authentic experiences gamers want to see," said Jon Dean, vice president of sports business, Midway.

NFL Blitz Pro is also scheduled for release on the Xbox and GameCube in the near future, but the PS2 version is the only one to boast online functionality. Online players will not only be able to compete against one another in tournaments and the like, but they'll also have the option to download real-time weather information for each of the stadiums in the game.
