Next Xbox One Backwards-Compatible Game Arrives

Infinity Ward's Call of Duty 2 is now playable on Xbox One through backwards compatibility. Microsoft's Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb announced on Twitter today that the 2005 FPS is the latest title to join the Xbox One's backwards compatibility catalog.

It's not the first Call of Duty game in the program, as Call of Duty: Black Ops was added in May. There is clearly demand for other games in the series, too, as five of the top six most-requested games for backwards compatibility support on the Xbox Feedback site are Call of Duty titles.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II is the most-requested game on the site, followed by The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, with Modern Warfare 2, Modern Warfare, Modern Warfare 3, and World at War rounding out the rest of the top six. There is no guarantee that any of those games will ever be added to the program.

If you already own Call of Duty 2, it should show up automatically in your library. Newcomers can buy it for $20. In terms of size, it will take up 5.87 GB on your hard drive.

GameSpot's Call of Duty 2 review scored it an 8.8/10.

The Xbox One's backwards compatibility feature arrived in November 2015. Since then, the response has been "overwhelming," Microsoft recently said. Earlier this month, the company said users have collectively spent 145 million hours playing Xbox 360 games on Xbox One.
