Next Xbox One Backwards-Compatible Game Arrives

The Xbox One's backwards compatibility catalog is growing again. Microsoft's Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb has announced that 2010's Bomberman Live: Battlefest is coming to the program today.

In keeping with Bomberman tradition, Battlefest sees players using bombs to vanquish their foes. Playable solo or with up to seven others, the game includes a dozen arenas and modes like Capture the Flag and Paintbomb. It was developed by the now-defunct company Pi Studios.

If you already own Battlefest for Xbox 360, it should show up automatically on Xbox One. Alternatively, newcomers can buy it for $10. According to its product page, its size is only 677.88 MB.

GameSpot's Battlefest review scored the game a 6.5/10. "If you don't already own a Bomberman game and want to blow up your friends in this timelessly enjoyable party game, Battlefest is a fine choice," reviewer Carolyn Petit said in 2010.

The Xbox One's backwards compatibility feature arrived in November 2015. Since then, the response has been "overwhelming," Microsoft recently said. Just this week, the company said users have collectively spent 145 million hours playing Xbox 360 games on Xbox One.
