Next-gen FIFA, UFC game to be shown at Xbox 720 event

Latest entry in soccer series and new UFC game to be on display at Microsoft's next-generation reveal event tomorrow.

[UPDATE] Following the publication of this story, EA Sports announced that its new UFC game will also be shown during the next Xbox reveal event tomorrow.

The original story follows below

Call of Duty: Ghosts won't be the only game on display at Microsoft's next-generation reveal event tomorrow. An image posted to the official EA Sports FIFA Facebook page invites gamers to "see the next generation of FIFA" during the presentation, which starts at 10 a.m. PDT.

EA and Microsoft are rumored to announce a partnership at the reveal event that will see certain content released first on the next Xbox before launching on other platforms.

Outside of a brief flash of its logo, EA was a no-show during the PlayStation 4 announcement in February. Chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen explained the publisher's absence as EA's "timing of our own slate as well as trying to maintain a good balance of power with all the parties out there."

GameSpot will be in attendance at the Xbox 720 event, during which Microsoft will share its vision for the future of games and entertainment.

FIFA 14 was announced last month for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. EA Sports at the time noted that information about other platforms would be revealed "in the months ahead." The game sports a new ball physics engine and will not feature female players.

Could care less about UFC, I think the games are boring. Excited for FIFA!

" timing of our own slate as well as trying to maintain a good balance of power with all the parties out there."

I think they mean "screw PS4"

Fucking haters gonna hate! I cannot wait to see what the next FIFA will look like on next-gen systems! I'm not your average sports fan, but the few sports I care about I love and support all the way especially in digital form. FIFA 13 is a badass game and it can only get better! BRING IT ON!

I dont get why M$ wants to show so many games when we are so close to E3. What will they show us at E3? We already will see the box and all its multiplats lol

Love Fifa (not as much Fifa 13) but feel this is one of the games that won't benefit that much from next gen graphics because its totally gameplay orientated. Once your immersed in an online game the visuals are not there to take a few second to admire, yes it never hurts but Fifa is right at the top of the pile not needing 1080 hd or better framerates or what every floats certain gamers boats.

Smartphone games have shown the way.. In app purchases make the money. Now watch as EA use the Next Generation to sell us games for the usual £40/$60, but are virtually unplayable without the In app purchase (DLC). It started a bit with Dead Space 3, and this pay to win model is most insidious.

Cant wait to see what a next generation football game looks like, also looking forward to see if cod can actually change & evolve (not getting my hopes up about that last bit)

I can't wait to see how the next FIFA will look like :) Last time I have bought a FIFA was in 98 :p I am not into sport games, but I always liked soccer. The graphics in this mofo better be photorealistic.

great. the next generation of FIFA's selling point is...auto-play. No need for controller, just sit back and watch random events unfold before you.

FIFA is the key to xbox gaining some ground to the playstation in Europe Middle East and Africa region, for this region FIFA and soccer in general is the biggest thing in gaming so if MS can get FIFA associated with xbox3 the salesw will greatly increase in this area only leaving Japan to worry about

Unless those two games are exclusive to Xbox 720, I don't see this as a big bang news.

Last I checked, sports games still have badly rendered fans despite the smallness of the games ... I wonder if next-gen will change this.

I buy PES instead, i think that has a greater experience even though it lacks licence

Ummm...I figured they would perhaps want to give people a reason to purchase the Xbox by enticing them with games that only appear on just the Xbox. I guess this is the problem with not having a strong 1st-party group. MS needs more than Halo and Forza...oh, and Fable...

Yea? So? FIFA and UFC? These games supposed to be exciting? NO.

It's just going to be more of the same when it's released.

Please don't assume you're going to get a radically different game of football just because Microsoft are telling you that someone has found a way to imperceptibly change how the ball moves again.

When even the demo shows you something that you literally can't differentiate from the last generation, you know you're being spoon fed BS.

These games are never accurate. There's no racist chanting, players roundhouse kicking the fans and no post game riots.

i'm wondering if next gen sport games could be any different with current gen sport games, especially for soccer game which the camera hovering 50 meters away. They could make the players as realistic as possible, add more advance facial animation, put more wrinkle to the jersey, add destructible environment for the field, or even animated the spectators one by one but none of this would be noticeable by most of the gamers because from what i see, most of 'em skip the intro, the celebration, and never use the instant replay.

@Shantmaster_K The new one is done by EA so it won't be anything like the other games you were bored by.

@Imatyta have you played a fifa game since 98? if not i suggest you get 12 or 13 otherwise you will be out of your depth by how far it's come

Mamamf

@steelmouth No. Sorry, but no. Fifa 13 sold 1,23 million copies, Diablo 3, for example, sold more than 10 million copies. Those regions have many fans of football but very few of them care about videogames.

@s3as3a haha the crowd is the last thing that fifa needs to worry about atm, but im sure that will be one of the first things that they fix

@LukeWesty @mwamba1 I was being sarcastic. FIFA 13 takes way too much control out of players hands with gameplay features like auto-tackle, auto-block etc, which require no controller input or sometimes ignore your controller input. Basically I was sarcastically implying the next step in the series to do away with us actually playing the game in any way whatsoever

@LukeWesty @steelmouth Can you read? He said "associated." that means when you think of a title you automatically think of a certain console. Like Mass Effect is associated to the 360 even though the games are on PC and PS as well. Why do I have to explain this?
