Next Civ V expansion revealed?

Steam Apps Database listing points to possible expansion for Firaxis' PC strategy game titled "One World"; no other details given.

by

A new expansion for Firaxis' 2010 release Civilization V could be on its way, according to a listing on the Steam Apps Database.

The listing--first spotted on the 2K Games forums--clearly states "One World" as a PC expansion for the game, but provides no other details.

The last expansion for Civilization V was last year's Gods & Kings, which added new civilizations, scenarios, and leaders to the game as well as a reworked combat system.

For more on the Gods & Kings expansion, check out the GameSpot review.

It would be cool if this was an end game expansion where you continue to rule after you've dominated everything. Dealing with internal corruption, civil wars, riots, pollution, and such in your own civ. And you could keep trying for the other victories.

Also they could have xcom cross over invasion!

Really Gamespot? You list everything the Gods & Kings expansion adds to the base game *except* for the religion mechanic, the very thing that was it's selling point? I'd say I was disappointed, but that would be assuming I had much in the way of expectations with articles on this site in the first place...

As for the new expansion, I'm hoping this is a sign that Firaxis is going back to doing the big, quality expansion packs that it used to be known for, rather than the stupidly expensive DLC that adds almost nothing to the game.

Civ V is trash -- I played it for long enough to realize this and immediately went back to Civ IV (coincidentally, my favorite game of all time). I'd rather have another Civ IV expansion, quite frankly, or a Civ VI with Sid Meier actually involved again. Whoever spearheaded V's development really bungled it big time.

I would like to think it's in reference to globalization and that it will vastly expand upon how the late game is played.  Right now, the game's over by renaissance / industrial era and the last 100 or so turns are a bore.

Sweet I was hoping for another expansion!

Bought this game on sale on Steam, highly addicting.

What I'm thinking of is the ability to have a globe as a map that allows all of the playable countries on them at one time.

I love Civ5, but not sure what more they could really add at this point, that wouldn't just feel like a money grab.  Hopefully they'll surprise me with something new and exciting, but think it might just be time for Civ6.

um... that's it?....  3 sentences?... It took me longer to click the link than to read the article.  I feel strangely unfulfilled.

It's just speculation, but the title "One World" reminds me of "social" gaming like in the next Sim City, where your experience is influenced by other players. Personally, I hope I'm wrong.

Please, include the Portuguese in this expansion.

Alpha Centauri, perhaps? Cause that would be awesome.

Fingers crossed for a merger of the Civ V world and our real world.

One day, one turn.

@Yuusha09 I'm not sure I agree with you on the game being over by the Industrial Era, I've had quite a few games where countries where neck and neck until a war wiped one out or time ran out and the scores determined the winners.

I agree that the late game needs to be expanded. It feels awesome when you finally get a whole massive global domination army going...and then it's not awesome when the game has 5 turns left for you to perform such domination.

@Yuusha09 Agree 100% but its a bit of a stretch.  Hope you're right, that last hundred years takes almost as many turns as the first 3900 years.

@comb5 They have that globe map. But playing all the nations at once... man you'd need one heck of a processor for all those units!

@Prometheus I really hope that you are... But I really think that you are wrong because there is already CivWorld on Facebook (don't look that up, take it from me, its horrible). Also, this is Sid Meyer, and I trust him. Also, Firaxis knows what makes Civilization Civilization, and it isn't a global interconnectedness. It might be optimized and overhauled multiplayer

@Therimight I thought EA owns the Alpha Centauri IP but i suppose they could call it something else:)

@Therimight I'd love to see another Alpha Centauri, but only if Sid Meier was actually involved.
