Next Borderlands 2 DLC revealed?

PlayStation 3 Trophies reveal "Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage" expansion; no comment from Gearbox.

The next Borderlands 2 downloadable content may have been revealed. Joystiq was sent an image (below right) of PlayStation 3 Trophies that suggests a new add-on titled "Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage" is headed to Gearbox Software's latest shooter.

Will gamers get to meet Mr. Torgue in the next Borderlands 2 DLC? Image credit: Joystiq

According to the Borderlands 2 Wikia page, Torgue is one of the weapons manufacturers in Borderlands 2. If the content's name is any indication, the new DLC may focus on the man who runs this outfit.

A Gearbox representative was not immediately available for comment.

If Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage is in fact the next Borderlands 2 expansion, it will follow Captain Scarlett and Her Captain's Booty, which released this week for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

There are currently four planned add-ons for Borderlands 2. Each will be available as a $10 standalone purchase or through the game's $30 DLC season pass. For more on Borderlands 2, check out GameSpot's review.

People seriously bitchin about the game being "repetitive, and enemies scaling with you?" Have you not played the 1st game?, or are you just trolling because you have nothing better to do with your time than bitch, I'm guessing the latter. The game is supposed to be repetitive and enemies scale with you, that's the concept of borderlands, not fight an add a few time never to see it again or have them stay at level 5 while your at lvl 50, and FYI your character DOES get STRONGER,  which is why enemies also get stronger to counter you which  makes you strategize your next move so you don't get slaughtered by being an idiot and running into enemies, this should be common sense if your not new to the game.

The only complaints that makes any sense about the game would be

1. bs drop rate.

2.badass rank/skins, ect resetting.

3. DLC raid bosses being locked out, but they drop bs items no matter what size group you're with.

4. DLC raid bosses not being worth farming because seraphs are not even better than items in the main game.

5.  BS DROP RATEx2

Every item I got that's rare, i got it through trade, or friends dropping them to me. I'm good on most items in the game I wanted, not I'm basically looking for more customization items

It's not that it's a terrible game, its still fun,,,,,but its a bit cheap, 1 shot at level 50 or level 1 and it will auto death you. It's silly you don't get stronger as the game goes on. AI constantly in places just spawning out of the ground endlessly isn't too hard to program in a game..

Admittedly, I am one of those people who can't get sick of Borderlands. I could play it every day and never wear down. More content is a good thing, regardless of how frequent. The only thing that would not be okay: another Underdome Riot. If that happens, I'll be skipping it.

Morederlands!

So it's been 8 days since "A Gearbox representative was not immediately available for comment."

Was a follow-up call ever attempted?

@JMiles77  Definately. A level cap increase would always be a welcome addition.

Here's to hoping Borderlands 2 ends up with as much extra content as the first got DLC wise

Hopefully it will come with a raise in the level cap

At least they are aware they need to release new DLC as fast as they can to counter how repetitive the game becomes after a few hours of gameplay.

This was already reported long ago, when the idiot who worked for the company(not Gearbox btw) who makes the dlc for Borderlands, posted it on his online resume.

I was only disappointed that the first DLC didn't raise the level cap, 50 is way to freaking low.

Otherwise I like the DLC a lot :)

With a slogan like "Bastard guns for bastard people" I'm really interested to see the face of Torgue.

I want to go with Mr. Torgue on his campaign of carnage. Somehow, I picture him in the future world of Pandora as being Duke Nukem's long-lost grandchild.

Is Gearbox attempting stealth? Is this what stealth looks like?

We know more DLC is coming to Borderlands....so maybe it's this, maybe it ain't? Who cares until it's announced.

I got games to play and real news to read.

FYI it's Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate's Booty. Because if she's a Captain I think it goes without saying that her Booty is a Captain's Booty. :)

But again,,is the loot going to be 4 levels below my level and the enemy AI always at my level no matter how much I level up? Making the whole point of the game worthless ??

Shootoboxer
Shootoboxer

@XspidervenomX  What are you talking about? Of course you get stronger as the game goes on. Also, you have skill trees that you put points into every time you level. The enemies just don't spawn in sporadic areas either, they are put in designated zones (camps, dens, etc.)

@GamerOuTLaWz You're judging the game based on the amount of reviews it has on here? What an odd criteria.

@XspidervenomX Incorrect. I've ran across many lvl 52 enemies in the new expansion & have found 3 weapons that I swapped out for weeps that I had been carrying for at least 30 hours. There's still plenty of reasons to play.

gamingfrendly
gamingfrendly

@XspidervenomX  yeah it annoys me no mater how much i level up they are there with you on the same or above your level and after you kill the enemys of an area a number of times they become a waste of ammo as they stop giving any xp.

parrot_of_adun

 @gatsbythepig *sigh*

The nature of the headline is meant to imply uncertainty. That is, the claim is unconfirmed as yet, and so a question mark makes it clear that he's not making an announcement.

boags24
boags24

@cephas90  @g1rldraco7 If you do the side missions (not including the main last raid boss guy), It's upwards of around 8-9 hours, depending on how fast you play.

reikendude
reikendude

@XspidervenomX They put cover in the game for a reason. It isn't meant to be a game where you one-shot everything, hence how they made it that things scale to your level. It is supposed to be a CHALLENGE. Though if you truly are running into the middle of battles blind and expecting to come out victorious you probably don't understand the meaning of the word. By the way, enemies come out of doors. Nowhere in the game do they spawn out of the ground, most of the time it is fairly obvious where the enemies are going to come from. Grow up, play the way the game was meant to be played and have fun or else don't play it and quit whining.

@blackothh  These "articles" are minor news snippets. They can't, by virtue of their very nature, be of much substance. Makuch says all that can be said, and no worse than anyone else could, really. If the website he works for has tasked him with writing up throw-away news bits, then it's not up to him what to write about, nor can he just compose magna opera about such trivial news things. This is just his job. I would sooner question the purpose and quality of posts that exhibit such an odd bent against these articles.

gatsbythepig

@parrot_of_adun

*belch*

Implying uncertainty in the headline delineates why this article shouldn't have been written in the first place. Or at least the subject should have been researched until there was no more confusion in the title. At that point, the germane information could be disseminated as news.

Right now this is essentially a rumor with a question for a headline.

XspidervenomX
XspidervenomX

@reikendude , yeah I agree, how cheap it feels when the AI spawn seemingly infinitely out of the ground , it feels so ridiculously cheap... Like how 5000 bullets to kill something regardless of your level, and 3 bullets and its cheap respawns time...makes this easy game boring........

parrot_of_adun
parrot_of_adun

@gatsbythepig Generally speaking, that's always a bad question (though, I suspect you knew that). If I were, I wouldn't tell you, and if I'm not, you would have no reason to believe me. Ignoring, of course, the fact that such things don't happen as often as people seem to think.

Anyway, typing up a comment on the subject takes a whole 2 minutes out of my day, so I just figured put my 2 cents in. I just find it odd you have such a strong distaste for the use of question marks.

gatsbythepig
gatsbythepig

@parrot_of_adun Thanks for the advice but your opinion on a 'well accepted (and not at all problematic) standard' shows that we do not agree on that point and means that I will continue take it up with the reporters who are expected to deliver news.  I would suggest you do the same, but you are content with what you are receiving.

I gotta ask, is this Eddie on a different account?  Because you seem adamant about protecting this type of reporting.

parrot_of_adun
parrot_of_adun

@gatsbythepig Take issue with the well accepted (and not at all problematic) standard then, not the reporters who do no less than is expected of them.

gatsbythepig
gatsbythepig

@parrot_of_adun That's an incorrect assumption, and you can always ask if you don't know.  I am tired, along with many other users, of myopic reporting when there is a 'Rumor Blog' section.

Just because it is a common practice, mostly by this site, doesn't make it any more acceptable.

parrot_of_adun
parrot_of_adun

@gatsbythepig Yeah. He's reporting on a rumor. You just seem to be entirely unfamiliar with the common practice of reporting on such things or using the form of a question to make that clear. There's nothing wrong with either.
