Breath of the Wild was originally scheduled to launch for Wii U in 2015. The game was initially delayed to give its development team more time to realize "several new possibilities" for the game. Now, Breath of the Wild is scheduled to launch on both Wii U and Nintendo's upcoming NX platform at an unspecified date in 2017.
