New Word on Activision's Apocalypse

Details emerge about the status of the Willis/Poe title from the game's producer.

Quite a few changes have occurred over the last few months for Activision's Apocalypse, the PlayStation action title that is set to star the voices and Motion-captured movements of film star Bruce Willis and singer Poe.

Apocalypse's producer, David Stohl, informed GameSpot News that while "still essentially the same game," the company is now leaning towards putting the player into the role of Bruce Willis, instead of having the actor run shotgun as a computer- controlled ally. Stohl commented that Activision is considering this "to make the game more fun, was cool sometimes, but not all the time."

The project has also been shifted from an internal development team at Activision to an external team, which is currently unannounced. While a new release date has yet to be revealed, the company is now saying Apocalypse should make it out by the end of Activision's fiscal year (around this time next year).
