New Twin Peaks Video Teases the Show's Return

And it does it in typical Twin Peaks fashion.

While it's still a ways out, Showtime has released a new teaser video for the upcoming return of Twin Peaks.

The video primarily offers a behind-the-scenes look at the show. A much-older-looking Michael Horse (who plays Hawk) talks about the significance of locations from the show as we see footage of a forest and the waterfall (Snoqualmie Falls, specifically) next to The Great Northern Hotel.

We also get to see the installation of the iconic Twin Peaks town sign (complete with the same population of 51,201). The video then takes a decidedly Twin Peaks-style twist; following all of this gorgeous imagery, we hear some creepy music--even by Twin Peaks standards--as the image of a person is obscured. It appears to be an older man wearing a suit, which might suggest it's Kyle MacLachlan's Dale Cooper. To me it looks more like David Lynch's character Gordon Cole, though without his trademark shouting, it's hard to know for sure.

Twin Peaks is set to return as a limited series on Showtime in 2017. Lynch is returning to write the series along with fellow co-creator Mark Frost, with Lynch also directing every episode. A number of cast members, including MacLachlan, are set to reprise their roles.

Disclosure: Showtime is a division of CBS, which is GameSpot's parent company.
