For many avid PC game players, Tetris is old news. But 12 years after its invention by Russian scientist, Alexey Pajitnov, Tetris' popularity reigns on.

Seven weeks after its unannounced beta site went live, Blue Planet Software, the official Tetris agent, has reported nearly 2.5 million hits to its Tetris.com site, the information resource for everything Tetris.

The site's huge success is attributed to the thousands of fans, who accidentally stumbled on the site and spread the word, according to Samantha Ryan of Blue Planet Software.

Blue Planet Software has established a BBS to answer Tetris questions, supply playing tips, and post high scores for dedicated fans, and plans to release new, fresh versions of the Tetris game during the next holiday season.
