New Soukaigi Details

Square recently revealed some more info on Soukaigi. In the game there are two kinds of power. One is a negative power called Suiki - this is the source of evil's power. The other is a positive power called Ouki - the source of the power for you, the player.

The purpose of the game is to collect the Utsuhiyo no Hashira (Pillar of the Temporal). Ouki is being crystallized as a piece of a Utsushiyo no Hashira, but unfortunately the piece of Utsushiyo no Hashira is trapped inside the Mini Garan Stone. The Mini Garan Stone is a materialization of Suiki. So you have to smash the Mini Garan Stone and collect the Utsushiyo no Hashira inside. (Get it?)

As you collect the Utsuhiyo no Hashira, you can power up your character's ability with offensive and defensive power, jumping moves, and levels of agility. Each character has its own advantage. Currently it is not known how many characters are playable.

Soukaigi for the PlayStation is being developed by Yuke's and is slated for a spring '98 release.
