Eidos Interactive has released new screenshots from Praetorians, its upcoming 3D real-time strategy game set in the days of the Roman Empire. In the game, players will travel back in time to the battlefields of Egypt, Gaul, and the heart of the Roman Empire. The game will feature thousands of different troops and war machines with different strengths and weaknesses, and it will take place in a variety of detailed 3D settings.

The new screens depict different battle scenes including a siege on a fortress and two formations of troops in a snowy area. A wide variety of different units and structures can be seen in the images as well.

Praetorians is in development at Pyro Studios, the Spain-based developer that created the Commandos game series, and it is scheduled for release in spring 2002. We'll have a full preview of the game later this week.
