The latest entry in the hugely successful Resident Evil series--based on Capcom’s classic action horror game--is due in January 2017. The previous film, 2012’s Resident Evil: Retribution, made more than $240 million worldwide, and director Paul W.S. Anderson has stated previously that he intends to make this sixth episode the last in the series.

Elsewhere, the long-in-development adaptation of Stephen King's series of epic fantasy novels The Dark Tower has finally been given an official release date of January 13, 2017. The project has had numerous writers and directors attached to it over the years, and while no cast or crew have been officially announced, it is expected to be the first part of a wider, ongoing franchise.

Other familiar titles on the list include the long-delayed Uncharted movie, Paul Feig's all-female Ghostbusters reboot, new entries in the Underworld series, two Bad Boys sequels, plus remakes of The Magnificent Seven and Jumanji.
