New Professor Layton 3DS forming in 2013

Level-5 reveals new portable project for Japan during Nintendo presentation; CEO Akihiro Hino says it will be Layton's "last adventure"; no word on US, EU launch.

Professor Layton will return on the 3DS in 2013, as Level-5 announced a new portable entry in the series for Japan this morning during a Nintendo Direct presentation. Andriasang notes the game will be called "Professor Layton Choubunmei to A no Isan," and no information is available regarding a release in the United States, Europe, or other territories.

Professor Layton's next adventure will be his last, Level-5 says.

Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino was on hand to reveal the game, teasing that it will be Layton's "last adventure." It isn't clear if Level-5 means to do away with Layton, or simply replace him as the series' main character for future games.

The next entry in the Professor Layton series is Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask for the 3DS. That game is due out in October and has players attempting to solve a mystery surrounding the nefarious Masked Gentleman.

Last adventure? Oh thank God. Now let's see a bit more Phoenix Wright on the 3DS and a bit less of this top-hatted titwillow.

Last game, huh?  Probably a good time to catch up and finally give these games a try.

I love a company that does just enough to satisfy and then get their stories out completely. I like conclusions. I look forward to this. Better play the last two games to catch up now!

Well, it was a great series.  At least they didn't try to suck it dry. Keep it going until it turns into a big pile of whatsit.

CEO Akihiro Hino says it will be Layton's "last adventure". It's understandable, Level 5 has other things they want to accomplish. It should please fans though. :P

There is a probability Gamespot that Level 5 might probably replace Professor Hershel Layton with his assistant, Luke Triton as the main protagnist after this Professor Layton's last adventure.

Sad it's the last game in the series. Hopefully they release a collection on the 3DS of the first three games since the 4th one hasn't come to the states yet.

While the Nintendo Direct broadcast is directed towards the Japanese market, a new Professor Layton game is the biggest announcement. I wonder how the game will play out.

that's sad to hear, but maybe this way level 5 can go back to making great RPG like they used to, which were some of my favourite like Dark Chronicle or Dragon Quest VIII

Hoping this will be the best of his adventures thus far.
