A new character for Pokemon fighting game Pokken Tournament will be announced next week, according to a tweet from the game's official channel. The reveal is slated to take place sometime on Friday, January 15.

The Japanese hiragana character "ラ" is shown in the tweet, which reads as "ra/la," according to a translation from DualShockers. It's also worth noting that this tease likely refers to the creature's Japanese name.

Back in December, it was confirmed that grass-type Pokemon Sceptile had joined Pokken Tournament's roster. Before that, Shadow Mewtwo was confirmed for the fighting game.

First revealed in 2014 for Japanese arcades, Pokken Tournament has since been confirmed to launch on Wii U in 2016. The game is in development at Tekken studio Bandai Namco.

Development on the project is being overseen by veteran producer Katsuhiro Harada, who says the goal for the game is for it to appeal to all Pokemon fans. "Whether you are a causal player, a regular player, or a hardcore player, anyone who likes Pokemon can have fun," Harada said.
