A new Pokemon Go update has arrived, but don't expect new features or any major changes. As posted on the game's website, version 0.47.1 (Android) and 1.17.0 (iOS) fixes an animation issue related to egg-hatching and also makes "minor text fixes."

It sounds like you should expect many more updates like these and beefier ones, as developer Niantic recently talked about how the studio is thinking of Pokemon Go along the lines of an MMO like World of Warcraft.

In other Pokemon Go news, as of November 17, the popular smartphone game is out in eight new regions in the Middle East. The new countries are: Bahrain, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.

In terms of Pokemon Go's future, we already know trading and a link to Pokemon Sun and Moon are in the pipeline, while more creatures to discover might be on the way. Niantic recently commented on the game's launch this summer, which, while massively successful, was also marked by server issues and other controversies.

Pokemon Go Update 0.47.1/1.17.0 Patch Notes:

  • Fixed an issue where the Egg-hatching cutscene animation would sometimes be briefly visible from the map view
  • Minor text fixes
