The Wall Street Journal reporter Takashi Mochizuki says on Twitter that new Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima confirmed the news today as part of the company's latest earnings announcement. He didn't share any further details, such as what the focus of the briefing might be.

However, one possibility is the first of Nintendo's new smartphone games with DeNA. Kimishima confirmed that Nintendo will talk more about this in a meeting with investors on October 29.

"We will provide updates on our project with DeNA tomorrow," he explained.

The first Nintendo-DeNA game is due out before the end of the year. However, we still don't know much about it, or the new membership service that Nintendo plans to launch alongside it.

Nintendo Direct video presentations typically bring news about Nintendo's upcoming lineup of games, hardware, and more recently, Amiibo figures. It remains to be seen if the video series will go in a new direction.
