Rochester, NY-based The Strong Museum today announced that its new video game exhibit, which focuses on "game-changing" titles and individuals, is now open. The exhibit was produced in partnership with the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS), and spotlights the D.I.C.E. award winners and more.

The exhibit includes a touch-screen display that lets visitors scroll through D.I.C.E. award winners across categories like Game of the Year (this year's was Fallout 4), as well as Outstanding Achievement in Art Direction, Family Game of the Year, and more.

"The AIAS is honored to partner with The Strong to present the history of our awards and industry," AIAS president Martin Rae said in a statement. "The Strong is the ideal partner with which to showcase the many accomplishments of the video game community and to hopefully inspire new generations to follow in the distinguished footsteps of our industry's pioneering game makers."

A second kiosk showcases D.I.C.E. Hall of Fame inductees, as well as Lifetime Achievement and Pioneer Award winners, among others. This year's Hall of Fame inductee was Metal Gear Solid designer Hideo Kojima, while the Lifetime Achievement recipient was Satoru Iwata, who died in July 2015.

Additionally, the exhibit includes display cases that house "video game artifacts" from The Strong's existing collections, which include "rare design documents" and more for famous and influential games.

"The Strong and AIAS have a shared interest in preserving the cultural history of video games, including their design and development and their impact on society," The Strong CEO G. Rollie Adams said in a statement. "The museum and AIAS created a formal partnership that resulted in this exhibit, which includes numerous honorees that have donated their work to The Strong for archival and exhibition purposes, among them Ralph Baer, Will Wright, and Bill Budge."

The Strong Museum isn't the first to host a video game exhibit. In 2012, the Smithsonian held an "Art of Video Games" exhibit that attracted more than 680,000 people over the course of its six-month run.
