EA releases new screenshots from the Crazy Taxi-inspired Simpsons game.

EA has released new screenshots from The Simpsons Road Rage for the PlayStation 2. Road Rage's gameplay is heavily influenced by Sega's Crazy Taxi series. Mr. Burns has decided to power the community's public transit with nuclear energy, forcing the town's denizens to look for other means of transportation for fear of radiation. Players must pick up and deliver customers while racing against time in order to score points.

The game features more than 25 Simpsons characters, as well as voices, animations, and interactions between the characters. Five neighborhoods around Springfield have been re-created, featuring approximately 100 related landmarks. A bonus system rewards players of all skill levels and lets them choose which characters and cars they would like to unlock. According to EA, the game's publisher, the world will be very interactive, with other drivers and pedestrians taking part in the mayhem. The two-player mode pits two competitors against each other on a split-screen in a race to pick up passengers. So far, there have been two game modes revealed. One of them is the story mode, which allows for 40-60 unique passenger deliveries, plus seven bonus deliveries. The Sunday driving mode lets players pick up passengers and explore the city freely.

In development at Radical Entertainment, The Simpsons Road Rage is scheduled for release on both the PS2 and the Microsoft Xbox this fall.
