Packaged with the Japanese release of Final Fantasy X is a separate DVD disc, which contains a preview video of Kingdom Hearts, the joint development project undertaken by SquareSoft and Disney. As reported at E3, the game features original characters designed by Tetsuya Nomura, in addition to familiar Disney characters such as Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy. A massive undertaking, with over 100 development team members, the game tells the story of lead character Sora, as he teams up with Goofy and Donald to find his friends Riku and Kairi, and King Mickey. Standing in their way are classic Disney villains and a band of evil shape-shifting beings known as The Heartless.

Kingdom Hearts will be released in fall 2002 in North America. GameSpot will have more on the game as further information is available. In the meantime, check out the preview video of Kingdom Hearts by clicking on the appropriate media link below.
