New media: BASS Strike PS2
THQ shows off its entry in the fishing subgenre with new screens from BASS Strike.
GameSpot has received new screenshots from BASS Strike for the Sony PlayStation 2. In the game, players can go fishing in a variety of real-life lakes, reservoirs, and rivers. Well-known fishing holes such as Boone Reservoir and Sun Valley Reservoir are featured in the game. A wide variety of bass species will also be included in the game, and players must maintain the proper tension on their lines and follow simple onscreen prompts for positioning the fishing rod in order to reel in their catch. Additional features include a two-player mode and real-time weather effects.
BASS Strike will feature four different modes of play. They are tournament trial, arcade, challenge, and practice. The tournament is the game's most comprehensive mode, as it lets players compete in eight rounds of the BASSMASTER Top 150 in order to qualify for the prestigious BASS Masters Classic. BASS Strike will be released for the PlayStation 2 later this year.
