From the bayou to downtown.

Today, 2K Games released a new trailer for its upcoming crime game Mafia III. The first in a new video series, this one is called "City Districts." As its name suggests, it covers the numerous and varied areas in New Bordeaux, which is the game's version of New Orleans.

There are 10 districts in all, and while they're all unique, the common thread is violence. Lots of violence. There is one particularly gruesome sequence when main character Lincoln Clay stabs an enemy in the face with a knife. He's seeking revenge in Mafia III, and it looks like he won't be holding back.

Now Playing: Mafia III – The World of New Bordeaux: City Districts Trailer

This new video series is presented in the form of tapes of a fake Intelligence committee. In 1971, the committee is interviewing Clay's CIA handler, John Donovan, to inquire about how Clay was able to defeat the mob and take over New Bordeaux in 1968. Five more episodes will follow.

In other recent news about the game, 2K has announced there will be more than 100 songs on the soundtrack, including "The House of the Rising Sun," "Paint It Black," and "All Along the Watchtower." This new trailer uses Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Run Through the Jungle," though this doesn't necessarily mean it will be featured in the game.

Additionally, there will also be a $150 Mafia III Collector's Edition that comes with the soundtrack on vinyl, a 56-page art book, dog tags for main character Lincoln Clay, faux leather drink coasters, and Playboy lithographs.

Mafia III launches on October 7 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
