Yesterday, Take-Two announced The Devil Inside, a new third-person action game that was previously released in Europe by Cryo Interactive. We have since received a playable build of the game and had the chance to run through some of the early sequences.

In The Devil Inside, the player assumes the role of an ex-cop named Dave Ackland. The game takes place on the set of a TV show filmed on location at a haunted house. The objective is to infiltrate the mansion and set the evil spirits to rest. But before players can do so, they'll need to magically transform from gun-toting Dave into a female sorceress known as Deva. As Deva, players can cast spells and capture the souls of defeated enemies, which they can subsequently send down to demons in exchange for new powers. To accomplish various goals throughout the game, players will need to switch between the two characters.

The television theme has a conspicuous place in the game, as there is a cameraman constantly following the player around the maps, and the studio announcer will periodically cut in to hype up the player's actions. One particularly interesting cinematic feature is that the video feed will periodically switch to a view from a helicopter flying overhead. The game also has a limited save feature, which requires players to go to a television object to save the game.

The Devil Inside is scheduled for release at the end of October.
