New info on Xbox One exclusive from Alan Wake dev may come to Video Game Awards

More information about Remedy's 2014 Xbox One-exclusive will be announced during December awards show, Microsoft teases.

More details about Alan Wake developer Remedy Entertainment's upcoming Xbox One-exclusive Quantum Break may be revealed at the 2013 VGX next month, Microsoft Studios corporate VP Phil Spencer has told Polygon.

After returning from a trip to Remedy's offices in Europe last week, Spencer said he feels "really good" about how Quantum Break is coming together. He said he is hopeful that more story and gameplay details on the game can be shared by the end of the year.

"Maybe VGX would be a good place for that," Spencer said. VGX is the new name for the Spike VGAs. This year's show will be held on December 7.

Quantum Break was officially announced at E3 2013 in June for a release in 2014. The game has remained largely under wraps since its announcement. According to its official description, Quantum Break "blurs the line between television and gameplay, integrating the two into one seamless, uniquely immersive experience."

Spencer also addressed Insomniac Games' upcoming Xbox-exclusive Sunset Overdrive, which was announced at E3 2013. A full section of the game is now playable, he said, noting that he is "feeling really good about the open world gameplay."

All we've seen for this game are teasers, and IMO they didn't even tease. Need to see more!

I'm in the minority, but I would love the see an Alan Wake sequel. I don't get why people were so disappointed with AW, I thought it was awesome

Alan wake could possibly convince me to get a console. Depends on if it's as good as the first, but longer

Alan Wake was a masterpiece.  I can't remember the last time I was that riveted to the TV screen.

Alan Wake is a terrible game, tells the story of a drug addict and his hallucinations in the woods, no way i will buy a game from Remedy again.

Hopefully Sony announces Syphon filter at the VGAs . That would entice me to buy a PS4 earlier than I planned.

I really hope this doesn't stay exclusive forever. At the very least, if it doesn't come to PS4 it will most likely come to PC eventually, like Alan Wake.

More XB1 exclusives in 2014 coming. Can't wait for them to announce Crackdown 3. I wish they would do another Links game. Powerstar Golf is more arcade the simulation. I want a true simulated golf game. Especially since Tiger Woods golf is no more.

I'd like to believe this will be good, but Alan Wake was a disappointment after over 5 years in development.

@NTM23 I believe it´s one of the best games I´ve ever played. Loved the intese story and pretty cool action with the flashlight to reduce the enemies "shield" and all that.

I´m getting the One when Quantum breaks...

I don't feel like you're in the minority. I've heard some people talk negatively about it, and sure, opinions, but it honestly somewhat astonished me. Alan Wake has its problems, but to me, a lot of it is negligible to say the game is anything worse than merely superb.

@ghost59 You mean Quantic Dream? CD Projket? 4A Games? Im sorry Remedy is good, but far from even a top ten developer.

@elegantspock nah I think they're fine living in their little bubbly world. Any good games that don't release on PS4 = crap in Sony fanboys' mindset. Plus they love indie games!

How is it rip if it's an X1 game? Get a clue

@ChiefFreeman It was primarily a disappointment for me because originally the game was supposed to be an open world game, and then became ... what it is. It's not a bad game, it's just nothing special. After five years in development, I wanted more.

@ChiefFreeman wow makes me think of it a little differently knowing it was in 5 years of development and didn't really do much in the WOW factor. Solid game though happy i got it when it was on sale for 5 bucks

@PartyGavinPartyAlan Wake looked awesome in previews and was one off my most anticipates games on 360,unfortunately  it turned to be average at best, extremely repetitive gameplay, all characters were unlikeable  and story was barely interesting...remedy is not remedy anymore, they were better when they wer with Rockstar

@sladakrobot @fluffy_kins I thought the combat was pretty tedious, and never finished the game (got about halfway through). The story was interesting, though, and I'd be tempted to try a sequel. But there were legitimate gripes with the game's mechanics. I get the sense that most people thought the game was fine, just not great.

That's because you like "raves", you are a lost cause to society.

Need for Speed, Alan Wake, Pac-man - drug references.

@jyml8582 @elegantspock I am an avid fan of Sony. While I don't agree with a lot of Microsoft's business practices, I cannot say that X1 doesn't have its fair share of promising games.

I find it hard to believe that people talk **** about indie games when XBL has their "Indie Games" section for the 360. But you're right, we do love our indie games (if they're any good).

pongley
pongley

@zerouzaria @ChiefFreeman It's a very different game from what it was. It was going to be an open world game and was nixxed into a linear game. I think they overestimated the hardware of the 360 which it was supposed to be a launch title for.

pongley
pongley

@ChiefFreeman @pongley @zerouzaria Well they did make it, in fact in the PC version you can even fly around it with a dev-mode free cam. But they started it early in the console cycle while Rockstar started GTA V near the end (around the time Alan Wake was actually released) when everyone had figured out the kinks of the system.
