New Fate of the Dragon screens

We play through an early build of Eidos' real-time strategy game.

Comments

Eidos sent over an early build of its real-time strategy game Fate of the Dragon, which is set in second-century China. At first glance, Fate of the Dragon bears a strong resemblance to the Age of Empires series, but it actually offers a few new twists on the real-time strategy genre. On the general map, towns are represented as singular enormous structures, but when players step inside the structure, they gain a closer view, and structures such as farms, training facilities, and the player's town center become visible. While players are in the town, two maps appear in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen--a close-up view of the player's town and a general map. While in battle, players have several options. They can directly attack a city by destroying the city gates, they can build siege weapons, and they can scale the walls and take out the first line of the enemy's defense, which usually takes the form of archers scattered across the tops of the walls. For more information, take a look at our previous coverage of the game.

Fate of the Dragon is scheduled for release at the end of March.
