New Dragon Age: Inquisition screenshots show epic dragon encounter - Report

New screenshots show party fighting a large dragon.

by

A number of alleged new screenshots for upcoming role-playing game Dragon Age: Inquisition have emerged online.

Posted on All Games Beta, the images depict a variety of characters traversing the environment as well as engaging in combat. Most notably, a screenshot showing a party in battle with a large dragon is also present.

GameSpot reached out to EA regarding the authenticity of the screenshots, but a representative was unable to comment.

Dragon Age: Inquisition launches later this year for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC. The game was originally expected to release last fall. The game may be the first in the Dragon Age series to include a multiplayer component.

Check out the screenshots below.

Good people. Chill the fuck out. First: this is probably a screenshot from an Alpha version of the game. Second: it doesn't matter. You sit here all day complaining about graphics and then wonder why the gameplay sucks. Well.. it's because you sat here all day complaining about graphics... and the developers subsequently spent all their money on graphics, trying to satisfy your shallow needs, and didn't have any left over for the other parts of the game. The Important parts.

Let me say this: Graphics don't matter in an RPG. If you keep complaining about it, you won't have any good RPGs out there. Only shallow, short,  graphical powerhouses like Call of Duty. Fucking stop it. Please.

Too excited for this game and I think it looks great. Only thing I really can complain about is that the sky is a little bright for being a world where the veil has torn and demons are trying to take over. The elf too.... he just looks really weird for some reason. Maybe it's the bald head.... the armor that really is not flattering his physique whatsoever....

No in-game footage yet, just screen shot. Those in advertising department must dying to get something to showoff, sadly that' all they get, the development team must be seriously lacking in talent right now. Btw who wanna see a bald elf dude wearing rag ???

man they must have sat around and said.. look Skyrim sold really well... soooooo...  we are going to make something exactly like that... just change the names and it will be an original Idea...

EA says okay as long as you will fill it with bugs and make it glitchy and broken... that is the only way we ship games...

Broken and a total waste of money for the person making the purchase...

Dragon Age Inquisition is made...

I kind of get the feeling that Bioware doesn't really know Frostbite. I dunno why, the whole game just looks strange. Can't quite place my finger on it.

Not as good looking as in the previous screens I've seen... A little blend, a little washed out...

There's simply no expression on the faces of the dwarf (if that's Varric, he's very different) and the elf. And that dragon tail, holy Jebus...

Please don't screw this game, please don't screw this game... Lol.

In the 1st pic, a guy have a laser sword? lol

Yikes, those are not next gen graphics at all.  They aren't even high end last gen graphics.  Let's hope the final product looks much better, and darker.  It's the blight, not a partly cloudy day.

Oh man, this game along with the Witcher 3 and Dark Souls II. And then the usual 35 JRPGS, it's a great year for RPG's I tell ya.

If this are real screenshoot, I like how the dragons is destroying the environment around him. That's good attention to detail.

The bald elf looks like he's still in his pyjamas. Otherwise these screens look good, although I would prefer more gameplay videos. And Bioware should create character trailers like they did for Origins.

Why does everything look so... washed out?

This screens looks great. I waiting so much for two good promising RPG games which will be release in this year: "Dragon Age Inquisition" and "Lords of the Fallen". Graphics in this two game looks awesome, combat style too. So I can only waiting dor it:) I hope both this games don't disappointed me.

Looks good but will it play well?!
BUT the most important thing is the story which they wont share shit with players.

Wow. When Bioware said they wanted to challenge gender roles and stereotypes in games they were serious. Look at how tight that dudes pants is (pause). I just knew that was a chick when I saw that screenshot. Thats certainly different.

They must have down graded the graphics because it looks like crap now... That flat looking dragon tail... Ewww.

The wait for this game is painful but it'll be worth and it'll make up for the mediocre 2nd game.

EpicI really can't wait for this game going to be so fucking good. Definitely going to be one of the best games in the genre this year now Witcher 3 is over a year away.

The crossbow in the first pic looks a bit industrial.  Are Dwarves machinists in DA lore?  Kind of looks like something out of Van Helsing.

@DanielCorfour  WORD! Spoiled little brats...BIOWARE promises to address PLAYERS concerns with prev games and they;re STILL compaining about graphics? Let 'em eat cake, oi says

@Revenant_K  and frankly.. how the hell did you deduce that "the dev team is lacking in talent" from "there are only screenshots"? how is what? can you even logic?

DanielCorfour
DanielCorfour

@Revenant_K  there is leaked alpha ingame footage from PAX on youtube as well as tit-bits of official footage. And also there is the Discover the Dragon Age, which showcases the ingame environments and so on.

@cellblock1138 what are you on about? Dragon Age:Origins was released two years before Skyrim, this is merely a sequel.

No, it's not Skyrim. It's not open-world, you have your typical Bioware choices to be made, it uses completely different combat system, different almost everything. And besides what's wrong with taking cues from Skyrim? It was arguably one of the best RPGs ever made, and understanding what made it successful: the openness, the size and scope, the amount of stuff you can do, the value for money ratio... and doing the same thing: make a game huge with lots of stuff in it is a fucking good idea! Copying word for word would be bad.. but we already established that is not the case.

Yeah.. EA=bad.. but when a company under their wings wants to do the right thing, as Bioware is apparently trying here... give credit where credit is due.

And seriously... you complain about bugs and glitches but you bring up Skyrim as a positive example? Don't get me wrong, I loved the game, but it was swimming in bugs and glitches.

faithannluda
faithannluda

@cellblock1138  I understand where you're coming from with the bugs and glitchy thing, but where do you get Skyrim out of these? If it's the dragons, well, technically Bioware has been working that since DAO. If you're talking by just the way the graphics look.... I mean, I guess those trees totally look like they just ripped off Skyrim <.< ....Anyways, the games are completely different, you don't even have to play Inquisition to know that.

DanielCorfour

@PowerDingALing jesus shit.. chill the fuck out... everyone here is complaining about graphics all day... and then wonder why every game has good graphics and shitty everything else. Get this through your head: an epic RPG does NOT need to have photo-realistic facial expressions. It has to have good gameplay and good story. The end.

PowerDingALing
PowerDingALing

@youre_a_sheep I agree about the graphics.

But the blight is over since after the first chapter of Dragon Age 2... It's the inquisition, not the blight. I actually like sunny days and beautiful landscapes.

PowerDingALing
PowerDingALing

@ahpuck It would be awesome, but, having played both DA and DA2, I highly doubt that. It looks more like a cutscene, sadly.

chuckles471

@Truth_Hurts_U  It's cross-gen so it will not always be the best looking game...  But it's a big leap compared to 2.

Hurvl
Hurvl

@SingletreeAve Looks more like an X than a cross as far as design goes, so I'll name it the X-Bow. Certainly looks like something out of the Van Helsing movie with Hugh Jackman. I wonder if it has the same machine-gun-ish mechanism too, firing bolts in rapid succession.

chuckles471
chuckles471

@SingletreeAve  It's his special crossbow, Bianca.  He really isn't into Dwarf culture as he is a surface dweller, so it would've probably been human made.

DanielCorfour
DanielCorfour

@PowerDingALing @ahpuck  it isn't... there is a gameplay video on youtube containing that screenshot... and it is part of the gameplay... although it isn't a completely free experience, since they said Dragon encounters are not random, but exist in certain, predetermined parts of the world.

Truth_Hurts_U
Truth_Hurts_U

@chuckles471

Well, I hope that is just console screen caps. Because I want it to look awesome on PC when I play it. I love the new direction.

Boogy32
Boogy32

@Hurvl @SingletreeAve  It does. There's a skill in DA2 that turns it into machinegun mode for 3 seconds or something. The combat in DA2 was pretty fast paced though, so outside that skill, it fired pretty fast still. They have said that they wanted to do both fast paced combat, and something slower and more meticulous. I think we'll see Bianca fire more slowly in this game.

katerinafm
katerinafm

@chuckles471 @SingletreeAveIt's actually made by a dwarf friend of his, you learn about that in the Legacy DLC ;D. Bianca was the only repeating crossbow that ever worked, so it's a pretty unique crossbow.
