New Dragon Age info arriving during EA's E3 2013 conference

Executive producer promises "something new" from Dragon Age at EA's E3 2013 press conference.

New Dragon Age information will be revealed at tomorrow's EA press conference, a BioWare employee has said.

"Watch the @EA conference tomorrow at 1pm PST for something new from @DragonAge," said Dragon Age executive producer Mark Darrah on Twitter.

BioWare has confirmed Dragon Age III: Inquisition is in the works for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. The game is being developed using DICE's Frostbite 3 engine, and previous rumours have said the game will be released in 2014.

Amazon has also previously listed Dragon Age III for Xbox One.

EA's E3 2014 press conference will be taking place from 12:20PT on July 10. GameSpot will be streaming the event live alongside covering the announcements on the site.

Day 1 dlc, microtransactions, origin, chopping whole game into dlcs and selling them separately, dumbing down game, terrible endings. wow, can't wait...

I know it says that it is confirmed for Xbox One, but is it going to be on the 360 as well?

make it play more like baldurs gate (the game it was supposed to be a spiritual successor to) and i might start giving a damn about DA games...

If it's good when it comes out (like DAO which was great but not Baldur's Gate 3.)  I will give it a chance.  I am not holding my breath or getting excited about this one.  I will need at least 2 good reviewers (looking at Adam Sessler and possible Kevin V here) to say it's worth it and a return to the "spiritual successor's roots."  There will be no preordering on my part, that's for certain.

There is no quibbling or "butthurt" in my statement that Dragon Age 2 was among the most disappointing and dumbed-down experiences I've had in 30+ years of gaming.  Bad game is bad because it is bad.  That bad game sullies anything associated with it.

That and from what I've seen this is a continuation of Hawke's adventures.  Fuque Hawke.  Hawke and his siblings were beyond unlikable.

I hope the game turns out well, and still comes to current-gen consoles since my girlfriend is a pretty big fan of the series.

@Simplythebest12 How do you know? Do you work at Bioware? Besides Hate to break it to ya, but skyrim and Witcher don't hold a candle to Bioware story telling. I enjoyed the game play in both games, but the story was lacking...

We... haven't seen it yet...?

In all honesty, I'm *cautiously* optimistic about DA3. I doubt it'll be the hardcore RPG that I'm craving, but maybe with a respectable development cycle, and with EA no longer diverting all of BioWare's talent and resources to rushing out SWTOR like they were doing during the development of DA2 and the bulk of ME3, maybe, just MAYBE, it'll be a really good game in it's own right.

ME2 showed that BioWare can make good games under EA's management, and despite a lot of recent departures from the company I do believe that there's still a lot of talent working there.

Here's hoping.

@Poodlejumper I agree with you that DA2 was a let down, but the worst in thirty years? I don't know what games you have played, but I have seen some way worse and I am not even thirty yet...

@soulless4now IF you like RPGs then Dragon Age Origins is well worth playing. I think its the last good game that Bioware made. Lots of stuff to do and it stayed pretty close to RPG roots. I gave mass effect a shot and i thought it was pretty lackluster in terms of moment to moment content, and the story was not enough to keep me though the crappy combat or planet exploration.

@soulless4now If you've played Mass Effect 3 there isnt much difference in the general concept and story.

The combat and setting is obviously nothing like it though.

Russianman72685

@corrus I don't know... They are taking their time with this one. When Bioware takes their time great things come out. BG 2, DA:O, ME1+2...

@Russianman72685 @grankle That's the joys of Bioware games...if a person wants to make that choice, that is their business. If grankle enjoys that then you don't need to patronize grankle for that. You and me may not like it...but that doesn't mean others should be denied.

MrNWatson

@Russianman72685 @Simplythebest12 That's very true.  Skyrim, Witcher and Dragon Age aren't really in the same sub-genre.  Sure, they're all role playing games, but they're very different breeds.  Skyrim is, if anything, a game defined by wanderlust.  Bioware's games have always been more focussed, telling powerful stories.  I've loved all of Bioware's games for that.  I also keep coming back to Skyrim.  And the Witcher seems to be somewhere in between.  They're all excellent games.  To compare one to another ultimately only does them all a disservice.

@Selig05 @Fursnake  Jeez, am I the only one who actually liked DA2 at all?  My only gripe was that they didn't have Morrigan in it.

@Dat-tsu

Exactly.  Hopefully they've learned  from that God-awful piece of horsesh*t that was DA2 and go back to at least some of what made the original such a classic.

MikeJoeShmoe

@Dat-tsu On the flip side of that, ME2 was also mostly completed by the time EA acquired Bioware.  Then came the DLC...so much DLC... *shudders*  Probably won't be buying this anyway because of Origin.

@Russianman72685 I'm 38 and I've played Atari's ET and DaiKatana.  I know shit when I see it.  DA2 works and isn't buggy yes, but for a AAA game from BioWare it fails expectations on all levels.  It's a bland, consolized, dumbed-down, action fest with zero tactical merit.  It turned RPG into "action RPG".  If you wanted that then fine.  I didn't.

I ordered and was expecting prime rib and I got old McDonalds and was told to act like it was prime rib.

When you expect the gold standard and you extremely the otherwise and everyone expects it to be applauded like nothing happened then I gotta laugh.

@Russianman72685 Against my better judgment, I told myself that I would play FFXIII this year just to see my tolerance for it. lol I do want to play DA:O since I've never played a western rpg before. It is time for something new.

soulless4now
soulless4now

@blackothh I heard it was pretty good, it's just the second game that everyone seems to be disappointed with. I never bothered with Mass Effect since it seemed more like a shooter than anything else.

Russianman72685
Russianman72685

@yeah_28 @soulless4now I totally disagree, but that is your opinion. The caliber of story in DA:O isn't in The Mass Effect series. Don't get me wrong I loved the Mass Effect Series, but the complexities of relationships and the ability to interact with the characters is just so much deeper in DA:O imho.

soulless4now
soulless4now

@yeah_28 Haven't played that one either mainly because of lack of interest. I already bought the first DA game awhile back since it was $5 pre-owned on the Best Buy website. Couldn't miss a deal like that.

@soulless4now @blackothh I thought like that too. I do not like shooters at all.  But Mass Effect series was just mind blowing how deep and involved you can become with the characters and world. Truly in my opinion the best story driven games I have ever played.

It's probably the first time I seen just random NPC dieing in a battle and caring because I felt like real people were dieing. Truly top notch game.

@Russianman72685 @yeah_28 @soulless4now

Regarding characters yes, but the story for me just wasnt anything neither good or remarkable.

And i did try to get into the lore and actually liked it, but still.
