The upcoming Doctor Strange promises to be the Marvel Cinematic Universe's most unusual movie to date. A new behind-the-scenes featurette gives fans an idea of what to expect when it hits theaters in November--check it out below:

Doctor Strange stars Benedict Cumberbatch as mystical sorcerer Stephen Strange, and also features Chiwetel Ejiofor, Tilda Swinton, Mads Mikkelsen, Benedict Wong, and Rachel McAdams. It is directed by Sinister's Scott Derrickson.

The casting of Tilda Swinton as Strange's mentor, the Ancient One, caused some controversy earlier this year, due to the fact that the character is an Asian man in the original comic books. In a recent interview with the LA Daily News, Derrickson explained that casting Swinton was in fact part of an attempt to increase the film's diversity.

"Tilda was a way of adding diversity in terms of not just an ethereal, enigmatic, otherworldly actress playing an ethereal, enigmatic, otherworldly character, but we're bringing a middle-aged woman who's not 28 years old in leather pants into the Marvel Universe in a major role," he said.

The director went on to state that Wong's character--also called Wong--also gave him a chance to confound expectations. "I was going to leave Wong out of the movie at first; he was an Asian sidekick manservant, what was I supposed to do with that?" Derrickson said. "[But] unlike the Ancient One, he could be completely subverted as a character and reworked into something that didn't fall into any of the stereotypes of the comics."

Doctor Strange hits theaters on November 4, 2016.
