The new Call of Duty app was designed to work "hand-in-hand" with Call of Duty: Ghosts, Activision said. Players can use the app to join, create, and manage a Call of Duty: Ghosts Clan and also to create and customize their in-game soldier and loadout.

In addition, come November 25, gamers will be able to compete in Clan Wars using the Call of Duty app.

The Call of Duty app can also be used to track career stats and includes a feature called Rally Up, which will notify friends about starting a match. The app also features a news hub, where players can read up about what's new with the shooter series.

Lastly, the Call of Duty app will feature various second-screen functionality, though this is not available today and will come later. Players will be able to make last-second changes to their loadouts before a match begins using the app or receive extended information about players after a match has ended. It was not announced when these second-screen features will be added.

Call of Duty: Ghosts was released for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, and Wii U on November 5. The game will be available at launch for the PlayStation 4 (November 15) and Xbox One (November 22). For more, check out GameSpot's review.
