New Anno 1503 Combat Details

Sunflowers reveals additional information on Anno 1503's complex battle system.

Comments

Today Sunflowers released additional information on the combat system in the real-time strategy sequel to 1602 AD, Anno 1503. Anno 1503 focuses on the era of exploration, and it requires players to build settlements and keep them prosperous by engaging in trade and diplomacy. Of course, players also have to defend the settlement from enemy attack, which can be done by placing troops on the new walkable city walls, where they can patrol the borders of the settlement. Building towers at various points on the wall gives added bonuses, such as expanded weapon and sight range, to units placed there. There are also lockable city gates that prevent infantry and calvary from assaulting the settlement directly. However, enemies can still overcome these obstacles by building siege towers and by using battering rams to take down the city gates. For more information about Anno 1503, take a look at our previous articles about the game.

Anno 1503 is currently scheduled for release in the first half of 2001.
