Netgear reveals router "ideal" for gamers

New 802.11ac Wi-Fi Nighthawk router features 1GHz dual-core processor, USB 3.0 port, and speeds of up to AC1900.

by

Netgear has announced an all-new router described as "ideal" for gamers.

Known officially as the Nighthawk AC1900 Smart WiFi Router (R7000), the router claims to soar above the competition to provide the "best performance" with the "world's fastest" WiFi speed.

It is available for purchase todaythrough a variety of retailers for $200.

The Nighthawk features a 1GHz dual-core processor with a USB 3.0 port and Netgear Beamforming+ for "unmatched connectivity in the home."

The router's WiFi connection speeds of up to AC1900 WiFi (600 + 1300 Mbps) make the Nighthawk "ideal" of bandwidth-heavy activities like online gaming and video streaming, Netgear said.

The Nighthawk also features "high-power" amplifiers that promise "outstanding" coverage inside the home and out.

I imagine this is for Germany as the rest of Europe doesn't give a **** what's in a game.

Sure as hell NOT buying the european version! Totally LAME! 8-\

If amending parts of the gameplay doesn't change the story, I have nothing to complain about. Sure, the experience may not be the same, but higher level of violence doesn't mean a better game. 5-10 seconds of the game is really nothing anyway.

Now everyone is curious to find out what has been changed. This draws more attention than not censoring it at all. Perhaps a marketing tactic?

Anyone else played the demo in europe yet?

--LIGHT spoilers from DEMO--

Correct me if I'm wrong here (posting a good 12 hours after playing it) but during the first section of the demo in the test facility, it ends with the two scientists barging through the door and Jodie is crying. Now watch the trailer at the end of the demo carefully for the same scene, doesn't she have a bleeding nose too? Is this really the kind of censorship they are referring to? Or even in addition? It seems such a stupid thing to take out.

So do we get a price drop in europe since this is not a complete game now?

God i hate these types of people, they already ruined Die Hard V, next Robocop with it's PG-13 crap, it's getting beyond the joke, pun not intended, screw the wider audience just pick up an 18 rated game like everyone else, if the changes are so small just leave them in, montón de idiotas.

Well Cage, I guess you can't really do anything you want now can you?

To be honest I am surprised he even allowed this instead of just pushing Sony to go for the higher rating.

This is not a video game, it's an interactive movie. You'll play it once and trade it in the same week.

Cancelled my pre-order, will import the uncensored version.  Probably have to wait to get it 2nd hand as the internet giants dont like shipping NTSC into Europe, so everyone a winner, I get a lower price and Sony get...oh wait!

While I'm glad it's a small change, censorship is just a hurdle that developers/directors shouldn't have to face. Censorship boards never take the media as a whole, instead concentrating on small things and stamping an R18 or whatnot if a certain thing is present. Surely a heart-moving story that touches on darker issues shouldn't be rated the same as a cheap action flick because they both have guns, you know?

tightwad34

I don't know what this is all about but it sounds really stupid. Then again, censorship is just stupid. Kinda weird for Europe to do this considering there's far less censorship over there than there is here, at least from what I gather.

If there are two separate cuts for this game and no true uncensored cut, then out of principle I'm not supporting the game. Will not be buying it, and I enjoyed Heavy Rain. I will instead be renting the game so that Sony does not see a dollar of my money.

Am I the only one who thinks she looks nothing like Ellen Paige even though it's her?

Without commenting on the cuts or the policies that led to it, I am glad the cuts are disclosed.

Isn't Quantic Dream a Sony studio ??? They only release their games on Sony's consol

Warlord_Irochi

And now in the internet you can find reports that the US version has some cuts too (in Erotic secuences) that will be intact for Europe.

If the is true there is not a fully uncut version in existence

Might as well change the name to "Beyond: Two Cuts", this is stupid >.<

Can't wait to hear about the Australian version. Would probably amount to replacing all the guns with NERF pistols.

Argh!

I hate knowing that I don't have the full, comprehensive product, but 5-10 seconds of extra violence probably isn't worth the hassle of importing.

Stupid classifications board.

There comes Sony, the white knight of gaming....

Yeah, sure. But money comes always first. Even a knight has to pay his bills.

on a secon tought, diablo 3 is rated M+ in my country, because you know, you can almost see your character naked. then again ninja gaiden sigma 2 is rated m+ because of the Green blood. i love esrb ratings too.

@xSkitZx Jodie will get a nose bleed if you don't stop destroying things as Aiden during the testing. I know this, because I got it to happen in the demo.

@SteamyPotatoes "The masses" already won't buy a QTE game anyways. All this move does is piss off the hardcore fanbase who may have given it a chance. Now that group is divided.

@Garm31 LOL in the same post you say this is not a game and then say you´ll PLAY it once. Try harder next time troll.

@xeis-net Get it from Videogames plus. They are the best choice for importers of North American games. Cheap games and low shipping plus you get the game the week after usually.

@xeis-net Get from YesAsia. They ship to Europe and it costs about the same as buying it in store here.

@KBABZ The Australian version R18+ (Threats of Sexual violence and Interactive drug use) possibly hints at what was slimmed down in the EU version. It's probably only 5 seconds less of someone creeping on Ellen Page.

jecomans
jecomans

@PlatinumPaladin The AUS version is 18+ for threats of sexual violence, so it's probably some of that which has been cut.

Zloth2
Zloth2

@PlatinumPaladin Isn't there a PEGI 18?  It was the developer's/publisher's decision to change the game to conform to the lower age range standard.

Printul_Noptii
Printul_Noptii

@ZombieGuyGeorge Diablo 3 is very tame its PEGI 16 here in europe also all Halo games are tame and all are PEGI 16 except Halo 3 which is USK 18 in germany but the germans are very strict they even banned Resident evil 2 and Golden Eye, I can still remember that. Anyway games like CoD, Dead Space and especially Ninja Gaiden 2 should be PEGI 18 I mean they have very excessive gore you can't overlook that. Also lol Indigo Prophecy DC is PEGI16 here as well and it has the sex scene and all the uncut stuff :/

Warlord_Irochi
Warlord_Irochi

@jecomans Not sure about that... PEGI is quite open-minded in general and they have no problem with anything as long as it does not conflict with the EU laws (ban on any for of glorification of terrorism, for example).

So nah... only Germany has problems with violence. The rest of the countries really don't care. And sex and nudity is a lot more tolerated here (specially in recent years)

lostn

@Warlord_Irochi @KBABZ Yes but similar to other regions, no game publisher is willing to use it because it limits sales.

And the 15+ rating is still a joke. Violence against zombies is taken very seriously, as is alien drug use and anal probe weapons.

KBABZ
KBABZ

@Warlord_Irochi Doesn't Europe as well? That R18 rating came in real handy for Saints Row IV.

ZombieGuyGeorge
ZombieGuyGeorge

@Printul_Noptii @ZombieGuyGeorge u.s. ninja gaiden is censored. it has Green/purple blood and Little dismemberment. what i meant, diablo 3 is so brutal you can sometimes see red splatters on the floor. nothing to do with a petty rape or a simple murder. //sarcasm

Warlord_Irochi
Warlord_Irochi

@RAD_RADIO @Warlord_Irochi @tightwad34Not to mention the point that I have almost given up with, that it's the fact that EUROPE IS NOT A COUNTRY, there are 50 independent nations here, 28 of then forming what is known as the "European Union" but still all of them independent.
