The upcoming Assassin's Creed TV series for Netflix has lost its showrunner due to a "difference in vision" for the project. It was big news in 2022 when Die Hard and The Fugitive writer Jeb Stuart came aboard the Assassin's Creed series, but now he's leaving.

Despite leaving the project, Stuart said he has faith the show will be great. He explained to Collider why he is leaving the Assassin's Creed show.

"I think it was a little bit of a move of executives from LA to London, and it allowed the London group who, unfortunately, had to inherit my vision of what it was instead of getting to develop their own vision," Stuart said. "So I think that's fair. I know it's going to be great whenever it comes out. I think the Ubisoft guys are fantastic. I think it's a terrific franchise. It was just a good, mutual time to move on for both sides."

In addition to this new live-action series, Netflix is producing an animated series based on Assassin's Creed. A 2016 Assassin's Creed movie starring Michael Fassbender was set during the Spanish inquisition, but it was a critical flop. Additionally, Ubisoft is developing a new Assassin's Creed game for Netflix Games.

Outside of Assassin's Creed, Netflix is also making multiple Far Cry series, a Splinter Cell anime series from John Wick's Derek Kolstad, and a Division movie starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Chastain.

As for the Assassin's Creed game series, there is the new mobile title for Netflix mentioned above, as well as Assassin's Creed Mirage, Assassin's Creed Infinity, Assassin's Creed Codename Red, Assassin's Creed Codename Hexe, Assassin's Creed Codename Jade, and Assassin's Creed Invictus.
