Neopets E3 2005 Hands-On Report

We get a sneak peek at the cuddly Neopets in this mobile expansion to the PC game.

We finally got the opportunity to check out In-Fusio's Neopets game, a mobile game that offers players of Neopets on the PC the ability to take their Neopets for an actual walk and not just a virtual one. Neopets for mobile will be synchronized with the Web, so players can alternate between playing at home and on their phone almost completely seamlessly.

Portability is not the only reason to play Neopets on mobile though, since the game will offer exclusive content to that system. We got a chance to look at the exclusive Neopet and island, both of which are named Lutari, on an early build of the game. First things first...Lutari is very cute, which makes him a great addition to the already rich Neopets collection of 49 creatures. Everything else about the game is very similar to the PC version, which is to keep your pet alive and happy through various activities and purchases. You deal with a number of different locations and shops, most of which will be completely familiar to you if you've played Neopets before. Essentially, In-Fusio seems to be trying to create as similar an experience as possible while still giving longtime Neopets aficionados a little exclusive content on the side.

While Neopets is still a little ways off from being released, we did manage to check out some of the in-game locations as well as the current minigame. The interface has been translated very well to the mobile platform, and it looks like In-Fusio knows how to accommodate the differences between the two systems. Fans of Neopets should expect to see this game available around September or October, and we'll keep you informed with further updates as they come along.
