Sony announced today that NBA ShootOut 2001 has shipped to retail outlets across North America. With redesigned gameplay, over 400 motion-captured animations, new camera angles, and commentary by New Jersey Nets broadcaster Ian Eagle, the series returns to the PlayStation with 29 NBA teams, authentic playbooks, and digitized arenas. Players can compete in the NBA all-star game, playoffs, and finals.

"By delivering the most realistic basketball action for the PlayStation game console, NBA ShootOut 2001 will earn the respect of NBA fans and gamers alike," said Ami Blaire, director of product marketing of Sony Computer Entertainment America. "Filled with a host of new features, the redesigned game engine will make it a can't-miss hit with all basketball fans."

Additional features include 50 signature dunks, no-look passes, 450 NBA designed plays, a create-a-dunk mode, proportional polygonal athletes, more than 100 hours of play-by-play commentary, and a new touch shooting system.

The game retails for US$39.99.
