Navy SEALs Assemble

Sierra flaunts creative team behind the Unreal-powered Navy SEALs title.

Comments

As Sierra's first title to use the Unreal engine, Navy SEALs begins - the company has announced its lead positions for its design team.

P.B. (Paul) Robinson will head up the team with a heavy understanding of the military and the gaming industry. Robinson was a Marine during the Gulf War crisis, and after working on screenplays landed back into the industry. He moved on to designing missions for Comanche: Maximum Overkill and went on to help ship other NovaLogic products like Wolfpack, Armored First, and Blackfire.

Lead programmer Jay Lee will help head up programming for the title. He's best known for his work on Police Quest: SWAT 2 as well as Betrayal at Antara, Shivers 2, Birthright, Gabriel Knight 2, and Phantasmagoria.

Art director Michael Hutchison will help give the title an artistic vision. His previous work has covered over 13 games including King's Quest 6, Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers, Space Quest 6, Lighthouse, and SWAT2.

John Crane, producer and project manager for the title, brings eight years of experience to the team with work on Thexder, Space Quest V, Blue Force, and Blood and Magic.

Navy SEALs will be a squad-based 3D tactical sim allowing players to become the team leader, equipping each character and selecting the best gear for a particular mission. The game is currently scheduled for a 2000 release from Sierra FX and is based on the exploits of former Navy SEAL Richard Marcinko.
