Navy Goes to Microsoft

Microsoft's Flight Simulator could help train Navy pilots.

Comments

The US Navy has decided to test Microsoft Flight Simulator to determine if the product could be beneficial in the training of pilots. The Navy will begin using six customized T-34C Turbo Mentor simulators for testing purposes.

The tests will run in conjunction with the University of Central Florida to determine how and if the use of Flight Simulator can be beneficial to training.

"We're excited that the Navy recognizes the potential benefits of using Flight Simulator and will formally test the product," said Bruce Williams, member of the Flight Simulator team. "We've been working with Cessna, Learjet, and FlightSafety International for years, and putting Flight Simulator into the Navy's hands further validates our efforts to ensure that Flight Simulator is the most realistic flight simulation on the PC."
