Naughty Dog visits SpaceX

Uncharted developer gets tour of Elon Musk's private aerospace company for reasons unknown.

Uncharted and The Last of Us developer Naughty Dog recently got a tour of Elon Musk's private aerospace company SpaceX, according to tweets from employees at the game company.

"Naughty Dog touring SpaceX!" wrote artist David Ballard, who attached an image (above) of the SpaceX building to his tweet.

Meanwhile, Naughty Dog developer Jason Paul said, "I'm going to space!" with an image of the SpaceX office.

SpaceX is headquartered in Hawthorne, California, which is about a 20-minute trip from Naughty Dog's offices in Santa Monica.

It is unclear if Naughty Dog's trip to SpaceX was purely recreational or if the studio used its time there to conduct research for an upcoming project. The developer is currently working on an unannounced PlayStation 4 game.

Halo creator Bungie also has ties to the aerospace industry. The developer has called NASA a "constant source of inspiration" for its new game Destiny. Dr. Craig Hardgrove, from the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, visited Bungie's offices in January.

"For reasons unknown"? The reasons for telling us about this then also remains unknown. What's next, an article about Gabe Newell visiting a shopping mall.

Yeah and Elon Musk totally sounds like a Star Wars character.

Maybe nathan drake will kill again... in space?

Maybe they're just there as a friends touring an interesting location? Stuff like this makes me wonder if developers don't allow more than three employees to be present at the same venue just so people don't assume they're in cahoots with said venue or developing there first Chinese buffet based game.

Maybe they will creat a game of another mass murderer, like Uncharted, but now in space.

Nathan Drake kills a thousand of people, and just make jokes about it, he doesn't care, there are a lot like him in prisons.

Whatever they're working on I hope we won't end up with a game called Naughty Dog Goes to Space...!

I never played a naughty dog game other than crash bandicoot despite owning uncharted 3, this is really makes me stiff in the groin above my seat area

U4 will probably involve some James Bondian horse shit where Nathan boards a private space-liner, then blows it up while pursuing someone/something, has to throw on a space suit, then some how magically re-enter the Earth's atmosphere without A) burning to death or B) smashing into the ground.

I see this visit leading there.

I would really love an open world space game by ND, god why can't anyone make such a game?, like GTA but in space/future.

Or maybe make a game in space/ the future that is like TLOU.

Elon Musk stole Steve Jobs's reality distortion field after he died.  He's a charlatan.

Maybe they're checking to see if the plane sequence in Uncharted 3 was possible.

I'd say they are blowing off steam and it would be a good way to wind-up conspiracy theorists on their next project all at the same time.Good for an office laugh.

OMG Uncharted space marines GO. But really i think they are getting inspiration for something.

I was playing UC3 last night, and was thinking "Uncharted has been everywhere: the Jungle, the sea, cities, desert, mountains, where else is there to go? Maybe space?"

Is this supposed to be some kind of hint at their next game? Cause I'd be really excited to see what they'd do with a space exploration game.

That tweet was sort of mixed in with "Getting underwear at Wallmart!" and "Big Mac time at MickeyD's!"

NO! Please don't! I don't want a space game... Please, let it be recreational... Space games are boring and uninteresting...

@hyksiu Space, uncharted? Sounds reasonable since most of space is uncharted.

@Diegoctba I know you're just messin around but if you keep talking like that Fox or someone else is going to try and make you the next Glenn Beck; maybe that's your plan and you want to one up Stephen Colbert by bringing your assumed persona onto an actually news network.

@rufusamatrix CoD: Ghosts already nabbed dogs and space (and aliens), so I'd hope for something a bit more original.

@djentmaven I hope you're wrong. I would love for Naughty Dog to do a game involving a space setting, but I would hope it'd be more realistically oriented instead of another Sci-Fi thing.

@kik4444 No more than Bethesda's visit to Boston indicates FO4 will be in Boston.

@RicanV I highly doubt ND's ability to make a horror game, much less a space horror game.

@DiamondDM13 That's only because ND hasn't done one yet ;)

@Grenadeh @DemocraticTroll No i mean something like you know, you go out there and steal that  futuristic neon whatever car and crash it in a robots' bar and then use your spaceship and fight aliens in space while going to the other planet and such you know...that is my dream game.

DiamondDM13
DiamondDM13

@Sefrix @DiamondDM13 Doesn't matter. I simply can't stand the futuristic/spacial settings in games... Completely ruins the game for me. Tried Dead Space because I love Survival Horror, but I couldn't play much because of the setting...
