Yesterday, Naughty Dog announced that Daniel Arey, the lead designer of Gex 2: Enter the Gecko, has joined its team. Arey left Crystal Dynamics on August 1, after nearly five years with the company. Arey assumes the role of lead designer, aiding in completing Crash Bandicoot 2 and preparing designs for future Naughty Dog projects.

"I am very excited to be joining such a talented development group," Arey said in a statement. "Naughty Dog has proven, and continues to prove, its commitment to quality and market-savvy game development. The future of this company is extremely bright!"

Arey worked on many of Crystal Dynamics' top products, including the original Gex for 3DO, Legacy of Kain, Off World Interceptor, Dragon Tales: Knights of the Square Table, Total Eclipse, and Crash and Burn. Prior to that, he had consulted for Sega of America, Electronic Arts, and Accolade, and he's one of the founding members of Artistic Development, creators of DeluxePaint ST.
