NASCAR '14 revs up in early 2014

Deep Silver acquires rights to publish new Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 game developed by Eutechnyx next year.

NASCAR '14 will be released on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in early 2014, new publisher Deep Silver announced today. Activision published the most recent entry in the series, NASCAR The Game: Inside Line, which was released in November 2012

NASCAR '14 is in development at longtime series developer Eutechnyx, which most recently put out the critically panned Ride to Hell: Retribution. NASCAR '14 will be sold for $50 at launch.

Deep Silver COO Geoff Mulligan said (via Examiner) the company is "thrilled" to have acquired the rights to publish NASCAR '14. He also suggested that more titles may be in the works, saying Deep Silver "looks forward to cultivating a long-term relationship with both the fans and the franchise."

The game will feature a new and "comprehensive" career mode where players can build custom cars, acquire sponsors, and invest in R&D to help their NASCAR team win. A new "NASCAR Highlights" mode will also be included that features real-world race scenarios--including weather and track positions--for players to participate in.

Official NASCAR teams and tracks will also be featured in NASCAR '14, including Daytona, Sonoma, and Talladega. League play and online multiplayer is also supported.

No images or video from NASCAR '14 have been released yet.

Many of you could not even finish one race at 10% of the whole distance. Do you know how to adjust camber, springs, damper...set the right PSI for the right conditions.  Set your brake bias correctly. Adjust the weights on the car, e.g....more weight on the front or rear of the race car.  This type of racing may only require the driver to turn left, but there is so much more.  Don't be naïve because you know how to point a gun and shoot your enemy. I enjoy all of genres, but this really takes an understanding of physics to be able to race competitively at 100% of the AI's strength.

Disappointed that Eutechnyx is still handling the development. I would love to see the Nascar games be developed by a team with a solid library of good racing games. Someone like Codemasters or Turn 10. Oh well. Looks like I'll just stick with Iracing.

For those that do not understand NSCAR. NASCAR is endurance racing. Running a car as close to wide open for as long as the car can tolerate it. It was created from Moonshine runners. Guys would talk trash about who's car was faster to out run the local police while running shine. Can the races now be boring? Yes depending on the track. But to have a full appreciation of the sport , you have to see it in person, until you do, you really  have no real basis for an opinion. Anyway, about the NASCAR games, The last good console Game was NSCAR 2005. You could race against 19 cars in the field and all the cars had good IA. If you hit them, they would only tolerate it but so much and they would retaliate. Nothing like that has been made since. The games since have focused on dumb stuff like "team control" and such. And the games have had so many glitches I won't even begin to list them. All that said I doubt this new company will make anything better. As the people the make the games no little to nothing about NASAR racing.

Knowing the Developer, this is a game to avoid.

Nascar is the most boring of all the motorsports. I cant imagine anyone sitting down and watching a full nascar race let alone play a game that involves driving around the same boring track in the same boring cars for 5-8 hours.

I don't even know where to begin. Sports games are cursed by the gaming monopoly that is EA/Activision. Imagine a NASCAR game made by Turn 10 or a football game made by Rockstar... If only.

Personally I like the games so far, but not so much after they ported it to PC and dropped local co-op. (Even though some menu options still show that it once existed)

I think the problem with games like wrestling, soccer, and nascar, is that they make everything so authentic and real, that they forget to add in fun modes for people who aren't hardcore purist. Nascar could have a ton of fun mini-game options added in, and make them available for local co-op and online, not just single player.  Wrestling could have awesome things like wave survival modes, and soccer.. well, exploding soccer ball mode would generate interest for sure.

Games are games, not exact replicas.  Keep the realism because it's awesome, but don't think that's the only way to make a sale.

some things i will never understand: wrestling is scripted, soccer players fake injuries, and nascar drives in a circle. why anyone would watch such a crapshow is beyond me. theres really no accounting for taste.

@xChi3FtheB34sTx First of all, iRacing is a simulator and console games are arcade-esque. So that completely discredited your opinion.

@Setzera I don't play them but I thought the NASCAR games have already reduced the realism over many years now.  I have read many times that the sim fans still play an older one, from several years ago I forget which, because it was the last/most realistic one.

@cheese232323 there's actually a tremendous amount of skill involved in NASCAR.  All the cars are required to conform to certain specifications, so whether you win or lose really depends on your team's strategy.  I personally don't watch NASCAR because i think it's boring as fuck, but i know some people who absolutely love it, and when they talk about it, it seems like the most exciting thing in the world.

@cheese232323Just because you don't like it doesn't make it bad. It just means you don't like it. People are entitled to enjoy whatever they want and the fact that you disagree doesn't mean that they lack taste or are wrong to enjoy it.

@TlathamXmahtalT @xChi3FtheB34sTx Arcade-esque or not, doesn't change the fact that Eutechnyx is a garbage company. They make terrible buggy games. NTG had a lot of potential, if it could get into the hands of some competent developers, then it could be something great. Sadly, it appears another year of garbage from a garbage company. Their forums the last time I was there, was just a bunch of rabid moron fanboys and trolls. Even their mods were blatant trolls, not the way a legitimate companies forums should be ran, that's for sure.

Maybe they'll prove me wrong and 2014 will be good. Maybe Deep silver will throw them some extra support, something activision wasn't willing to do. Maybe it'll be another broken glitch filled mess, and not worth the disc it's burned onto. I hope for the former, and expect the latter.

@hystavito It's true, they play NR 2003 with mods.  I personally think that minus the bugs, the latest NASCAR from Eutechnix is quite good from a realism perspective.  But then again, I'm not a hardcore fan.

@jcopp72 @super_tramp_tri What I do now is click the SEE ALL NEWS and VIEW ALL VIDEOS which seem to list things chronologically like the old home page used to.
