NASCAR '14 release date set for Feb. 18

NASCAR '14 will release on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC for $50 on Feb. 18.

by

Deep Silver announced that its NASCAR '14 racing game will launch in North America for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on Feb. 18.

NASCAR '14 was in development at longtime series developer Eutechnyx, which most recently put out the critically panned Ride to Hell: Retribution. It will be sold for $50 at launch.

In addition to faithfully recreating the highlights from the 2013 season, NASCAR '14 will feature the standard career mode, official team and tracks, and online multiplayer and leagues.

"Deep Silver is releasing the best NASCAR racing experience yet to hit video game consoles," Deep Silver COO, Geoff Mulligan said. "Fans will soon be able to compete in recent high profile races, experiencing the exact same conditions the real drivers faced. With an aggressive post-release content plan, NASCAR '14 is a game NASCAR fans can enjoy all year long."

Looks like we might get this for PS3 in the UK - but not until March. Fingers crossed since the last couple haven't made it over here!!

Loving all the hate on "hillbillys" and "rednecks" (which I'm sure is defined by their southern accents) but I've never heard an Italian, Jersey, New York, Chicago, or Boston accent during any nasa documentary.

wait isn't nascar for people who cant turn right so they make a big circle because they have an inability to race a proper circuit? are they making a  game for special people or has deep silver just lost their mentality.

Says in the article that this dev last released Ride to Hell: Retribution. Oh boy, I sense another abysmal rating in the near future...

who the hell would buy this? In game commentary "Wow he handled that left turn beautifully, let's see how he handles the next one"

Seriously Nascar is driving around an oval track, over and over again. I can't believe anyone watches this on TV, let alone spend money to play it as a game.

This game might as well be a console only release. I'd rather have a NASCAR mod for rFactor.

Play iRacing.  It was created from the group from Papyrus.  It's a really awesome SIM.  But it is a monthly charge.  Look for a deal on a new account,  You might get a month free.

Have not bought a NASCAR game since 2005. Every game since then has been crap. I don't expect this one to be any different. This company made Ride to Hell and see how that worked out. One of this worst games of 2013. There is no way I'm touching this Nascar game based on that.

Last year's version was atrocious.

@Asseen0nTV As opposed to shooters where... you shoot each other over and over and respawn again and again.  lol.

@E88 Tried iRacing didnt like it compared to rFactor and GT6, not trying to start argument about what "real sim" is, personally dont think any game simulates reality just yet, its more like make believe haha, so this could be good for a NASCAR game which i never played, 90 percent of racing game players are not into serious sim racing, like i might get Project Cars when its out, maybe on PC, but i really want Drive Club, thats just going to be amazing FUN

@tjraz2 @PosiTVEMinD355 yeah I guess so. What would you say? Develop? In my opinion, you don't develop a nascar game, you make it.

@BravoOneActual Because those are final couple of versions of the Papyrus NASCAR Racing series.

Since NASCAR Racing 2003 Season, I would argue a proper simulation of the sport has been absent. After Papyrus, EA Sports wrecked the license. I was happy when their license finally expired.

Now, it is another developer's hands and they optimized (ported) the PS3/Xbox 360 versions. I don't want a port of a NASCAR console game. (I love console games) because I would only buy it on PC. Thus, I hold on to my true PC NASCAR simulations in perpetuity.

@neowarrior121 hmm whenever I see the kids playing in empty swimming pools on skateboards I  just see them face down in the cement. must have missed the whole left right thing.

@themc_7  actually I just googled it and nowhere in the previous comment did you say anything about it being shit etc etc .

@adawf @themc_7 Impressive. Someone did an internship at BigBlueBubble. I'm aware that a game goes through many steps. I'm simply saying no matter how much time you spend sculpting shit....it's still shit.

@themc_7  actually you have design phase, high concept, pitch, concept, game design document, prototype, production, design, programming, level creation, art production, audio production, testing, milestones, first playable, alpha, code freeze, beta, code release, gold master, crunch time, post production and maintenance.  didn't see "maker" anywhere sorry.
